Due to Walt Disney World being located in the Sunshine State, heat and humidity are some of the biggest and most prevalent obstacles for those visiting the resort. Whether you choose to spend a day at Magic Kingdom or a night at EPCOT, you can bet your Mickey Ears it will be hot, humid, or both.
Walt Disney World does get a lot of rain, too, but for the most part, guests are in for a bright, sunny, hot, and sweaty day. This remains true here near the end of May, with Orlando temperatures matching a nearly 100-year-old record high.

The Walt Disney World Resort will see scorching temperatures today, May 20, 2025, with the Orlando weather forecast reaching a brutal 96°F. This matches the daily record-high set back in 1935. Guests visiting the parks today should be prepared for intense heat with very little rain relief, with only a 20% chance of precipitation.
Highs of 94–96°F are expected through Orlando, Sanford, and Kissimmee, though the feels-like temperature will peak between 100°F and 105°F later this afternoon.
Thankfully, there are a few ways guests can beat the heat during their time at Disney World, both inside the parks and out. For starters, guests have access to free water stations around the parks. Certain restaurants also offer free water for those who request it.
Staying indoors and in the shade will also help beat the heat, making indoor attractions, especially ones where guests can sit down, like Carousel of Progress, Muppet*Vision 3D, and the American Adventure, top choices.
Another way guests can beat the heat and even take advantage of it is by visiting Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon water park. Blizzard Beach doesn’t officially reopen until tomorrow, May 21, 2025, but Typhoon Lagoon is currently open, making it a great place to catch some waves and cool off. Even better, guests who check into their hotels today can visit Typhoon Lagoon for free thanks to a special ticket deal Disney World is offering this summer.
Guests could also reduce the number of hours they spend at the parks today to beat the heat and limit their exposure to harsh temperatures. They can also take advantage of their hotel pools and lounges or simply unwind in their rooms.
Things don’t get much better later this week, with high temperatures continuing through Wednesday. Things cool off slightly on Thursday, with a small chance of rain set for Friday.
These harsh temperatures will continue as Walt Disney World and the state of Florida enter the hotter summer months.
