Things are constantly changing in Walt Disney World, with some of the biggest changes happening inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. In June, the park will say goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, a classic attraction headlined by classic Jim Henson puppet creatures like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

The attraction is closing to make way for a new land based on Pixar’s animated film, Monsters Inc., a project that has proven to be quite divisive.

While Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing, there is also a lot set to open. The park’s new take on its classic Little Mermaid live show will premiere in just one week, with guests now able to add it to their day.

The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure has officially been added to the My Disney Experience app and can now be booked as part of Lightning Lane Multi-Pass ahead of its opening on May 27, 2025. Prices for Lightning Lane vary by date, with the highest recorded price being $39 per person. The average lies somewhere between $20-$30.

When purchased, Lightning Lane Multi-Pass allows guests to choose three return times for three attractions. Once these are used, guests can choose one more at a time. Attractions are put into different tiers, with guests being limited to one “higher tier” choice at a time.

It’s unknown what tier The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure will be in when it officially opens, though most other stage shows at Disney World fall in the lower tier.

The new show takes notes from the park’s former live show, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, reinventing the classic attraction in some exciting ways. Voyage of the Little Mermaid closed in 2020 as part of the COVID-19 shutdowns but never reopened, prompting speculation about what Disney intended to do with the space.

Eventually, Disney confirmed that a new, updated version of the show was in development and would open in the theater formerly used by Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The new live show will still feature Ariel, Sebastian, Prince Eric, Flounder, and Ursula, but will utilize updated lighting, sound, and practical effects, making it a can’t-miss attraction for fans of Disney’s 1989 animated classic.

The show features showtimes between 9:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., much later than other shows around Walt Disney World. Lightning Lane certainly can help guests cut back on time spent waiting in line when it comes ot big roller coasters and classic dark rides, but they aren’t typically needed for live shows.

Earlier showtimes tend to be more popular than others, so it will be up to guests whether or not they choose to snag a Lightning Lane for The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.

In general, shows are not the best way to utilize a Lightning Lane reservation, though considering the newness of Disney’s upcoming Little Mermaid show, it’s possible the attraction will be quite popular throughout the summer.

Hollywood Studios’ other new show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, debuts on the same day The Little Mermaid—A Musical Adventure does, but is not yet listed on the My Disney Experience app. This may mean Disney expects it to be more popular and will only offer it via Lightning Lane Single-Pass.
