Epic Universe has a big problem to solve before its grand opening this summer.

Epic Universe is almost here, and early reviews of the new theme park are nothing short of stellar. With dozens of new rides, attractions, shows, and other experiences, Universal has positioned its new Epic Universe theme park as a “must-see” vacation destination.
Epic Universe is split into several distinct areas, each tied to its own theme. These range from Super Mario-inspired lands to ones ripped right from the How to Train Your Dragon universe. To access these lands, guests must pass through portals. These highly themed tunnel structures are a fun way to merge these worlds together, allowing each land to feel separate but connected.
However, some of these tunnels have reportedly been a problem for Epic Universe, with one guest sharing a concerning new photo.

As revealed by Roller Coaster Xcyclopedia on Twitter/X, the portal that transports guests into the Dark Universe encountered an issue, leaving one of the lighting panels completely empty. These tunnels employ impressive technology to create an unbroken digital image, aiding in the illusion of being transported into an otherworldly land.
However, one part of the tunnel has since been covered. It’s unknown if this is due to damage from a guest or due to a technical issue, but this is reportedly not the first time it has happened.
Took less than a month for idiot GP to ruin one of the portal screens, giant black covering over part of the portal into Dark Universe. Wasn’t there in March. These issues will most likely be taken care of once Epic Universe officially opens, though it’s concerning to see such an important and visible part of the new park face issues like this. Lighting plays a big role in creating the atmosphere of Epic Universe. In Epic’s Celestial Park area, the “cosmic heart” of the park, 7 million individually programmable LED lights are embedded, making nighttime trips that much more dazzling.
Epic Universe has endured other technical issues and delays during its preview windows, with certain rides and attractions closing multiple times during the day. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, one of the park’s big “E-ticket” attractions, has been hard to get on, remaining closed for hours on end.
Announced back in 2019, fans have watched practically every screw and every bolt slide into place at Epic Universe. The park officially opens on May 22, 2025, a day that will undoubtedly go down in the theme park history books.
From thrilling roller coasters to immersive dark rides, Epic Universe has something for everyone to enjoy, though it may be hard to actually get into the park. Epic Universe’s preview windows have been jam-packed, with tickets for its inaugural month flying off the metaphorical shelves.
Highlights of the park so far have been Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, a highly themed and thrilling dark ride, and Stardust Racers, a dueling roller coaster that sends guests flying through the stars.
