Are the new Cars attractions worth losing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island?
Yes!! Very much so!! Time to move forward and get rid of the things that younger people don’t know. Get new attractions, get new customers. There’s no point sticking with the past. You could go ask younger people about Tom Sawyer and at least half of them won’t know anything about it besides it being a book that has been banned in some schools.
I’m looking forward to Cars!
In a way it’s ironic that Ann is actually right. Most kids today don’t know anything about those stuff other then books being banned leading to widespread cries of ‘Book censorship’ by the left whenever parents don’t want gross books into the hands of children.
No it’s not. And no Cars attraction is coming. It’s all a hoax. There is no expansion coming. The Rivers of America aren’t going anywhere. If younger people don’t recognize older properties who cares? Maybe that’s their problem. There is nowhere forward left to go and it’s time to keep moving backwards. Nobody wants new attractions. The world has run out of imagination. Time to start bringing back old things and Disney when I take over will be going back and become great again. Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars will be gone from the Disney parks by the 2030s due to Disney being broken up like Standard Oil and the Bells were and Disney not wanting to pay royalties to those once again independent studios. Like kids will weep over Pixar, Marvel, or Star Wars going away?
My thought is that the Imagineers are a bit slow and behind the times. I seems to me that a Cars Land and Monster’s Land should have been built years ago. I grandaughter (2YO) is just beginning to watch the Muppets. It’s a shame that she won’t get to see them at Disney. Yes, I know they are taking over the Rock’n Roller coaster, but only time will tell if it is as successful. They sure messed up with the Splash Mountain changeover (too many dead scenes), and the Maelstrom change is only moderately better.
As was previously mentioned, Disney has over 10K acres to use, even with their conservation efforts.
Stagecoaches and Horses, not cars. It’s the Frontier! Riverboats are a part of our History, not talking cars or talking animals in the swampland. Get real Disney.
Losing the iconic rivers of America and the liberty bell paddle wheeler is a huge mistake!!!! This is the anchor to that whole area.. Send cars land packing.
I’m so angry they are going to destroy Rivers and Tom Sawyer Island … just a maddeningly stupid and wrong decision. Build new somewhere else, or replace the cars at the motorway … but leave the calm scenic and classic elements of Frontierland alone for future generations. Best place to eat lunch, actually relax a bit with young kids, and feel you were actually somewhere else for a moment. I’m done with the park after this and we will be hitting Epic. If you want a generic concrete theme park there are other choices. We went to WDW to get away from things like Cars or boring modern IP stuff.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TAKING WALT’S SMALL PART OF AMERICANA AWAY. EXPAND THE PARK AND BUILD CARS LAND ELSEWHERE.
Verna
Disney has MORE than enough space to build CARS somewhere else. The Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are classics, and MUST NOT BE ILLIMINATED.
