The Universal Orlando Resort is now accepting applications for female-presenting actors to portray the characters of Glinda and Elphaba. These characters will appear in some capacity at Universal’s Florida theme parks, though exact details are unknown.
Both Elphaba and Glinda made a surprise appearance at the Universal Orlando Resort following the release of the Wicked movie last November, spurring rumors and theories the film and its characters might play a larger role in the parks going forward.
The characters could be met periodically in the lobby of a limited-time experience called Wicked: The Experience. The characters featured the quintessential looks, with Glinda being drenched in pink and Elphaba donning her iconic hat and broom, as seen in the film.
Applications are now open for both of these roles, with Universal seeking performers who are between 5’1″ and 5’4″ in height.
Applicants must provide a headshot, a resume, and a full-length photo of themselves in athletic wear, along with a video link to an audition. Applicants are expected to be in front of a solid-colored wall or backdrop for their video addition, with their full body in the frame.
The video will last approximately one minute, and applicants are asked to do a one-minute comedic monologue.
The deadline for submissions is March 17, 2025.

This all comes ahead of Epic Universe, which fans have speculated may feature its own Wicked area or attraction sometime in the near future. Advertised as one of Universal’s most ambitious and exciting projects to date, Epic Universe is positioning itself as not just another great Florida theme park but an immersive experience unlike any other.
Building off the success of Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Epic Universe will feature its own Harry Potter-inspired land, as well as several others based on world-renowned franchises like Super Mario and the How to Train Your Dragon series of films.
While it’s unknown what exactly Universal intends to do with Wicked and the world of Shiz, there’s a clear demand for the franchise going forward.
Directed by Jon M. Chu and featuring an incredible ensemble cast, this new adaptation of the classic 1995 novel broke the box office and has planted both its leads firmly in a new category of stardom. Few films have established themselves so quickly and successfully in pop culture, quite like Wicked (2024), making it the perfect choice for a future expansion to Epic Universe.
Epic Universe officially opens on May 22, 2025.
