Beginning May 16, the Disneyland Resort will kick off its 70th Anniversary celebration. The massive event will take place throughout Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and the Downtown Disney District. There will be limited-time food and beverage offerings, new shows like World of Color Happiness! at DCA, specialty merchandise, fun parades, and so much more.

Fans are really looking forward to celebrating the 70th Anniversary, especially since Disneyland’s 65th Anniversary was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the 70th Anniversary is not the only exciting event happening during that time. It is also a very special anniversary for the Pixar film that changed the animation industry forever. We are, of course, talking about the 1995 film Toy Story! Yes, Toy Story came out 30 years ago.

Beginning June 1, guests can head over to Pixar Pier to meet the anxiety-ridden dinosaur Rex! That’s right, the lovable T-Rex will greet guests along Pixar Promenade, across from the Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris Wheel!

Here’s more on the meet and greet from Disney.

From first photos to forever memories! In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Pixar Animation Studios film franchise “Toy Story,” Rex will make his debut at Pixar Pier in California Adventure for a limited time beginning June 1, 2025. Capture the fun as you meet one of the most lovable toys of the bunch in a camera-ready magical moment.

We do not know how long Rex will be greeting guests along Pixar Pier, but since he is coming out to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the release of Toy Story, Rex might stick around until at least late November. Toy Story was released on November 22, 1995, so it’s possible that even more characters from the film could make their way to the area!

At Pixar Pier, guests can already meet some of their favorite characters from Toy Storyincluding Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Bo Peep, and one the rare occasion, Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear.

While this is the first time guests will be able to meet Rex at Disneyland Resort, it is not the first time that Disney has done a Rex meet and greet. Last year, Rex made his debut in front of Al’s Toy Barn at the Shanghai Disneyland Resort, and he was an absolute hit! Who doesn’t love an adorable dinosaur who lets his nerves get the best of him?

Now, we know that Disney loves to celebrate any big moment in its history, so it’s possible that, as the Toy Story anniversary gets closer, there will be more offerings. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Disney offer Toy Story-themed treats, new merchandise, Magic Shots, and more.

Inside the Magic will keep readers updated on any further Toy Story offerings!

Are you excited to finally be able to meet Rex at Disneyland Resort? Who is your favorite Toy Story character? What other characters do you think should get their own meet and greet? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
