My brother was a costumed character at Disneyland about 10 years ago. He’s about 6 ft tall, so he did Baloo, Captain Hook and Goofy, and other tall characters. He also was Merlin, a “face” character, for the sword pulling show by the carousel in Fantasyland. For those who don’t know, Anaheim gets extremely hot in the summer. Now imagine climbing into a sleeping bag and closing the top in 105 degree heat. You’d be covered in sweat in minutes without moving at all. These costume characters have to move around a lot with very limited vision, as mentioned in the article. They don’t know if they are in danger, which is why they are always accompanied by an escort, who regulates the crowd.
It is NEVER appropriate to touch a character without consent, and this is a rule that should apply in real life as well. I have a feeling that this entitled dope was more obnoxious than described in the article. They usually are.
