Hollywood star Chris Pratt, known for his roles in big blockbuster franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Jurassic World, has been recast in an upcoming action movie, according to reports.

After gaining recognition in Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt launched into superstardom with his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) from director James Gunn. A year later, he would also star as Owen Grady alongside Bryce Dallas Howard in Jurassic World (2015).

Over the last seven years, Pratt has appeared in numerous MCU and Jurassic World movies, including Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Jurassic World Dominion (2022), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023).

While the latter was the last MCU movie to feature the current Guardians of the Galaxy lineup–consisting of Pratt’s Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, Karen Gillan’s Nebula, Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel’s Groot, Pom Klementieff’s Mantis, and Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon–the post-credits scene of Gunn’s third movie revealed that Star-Lord would return.

There has been no confirmation as to when and where the character will appear in the future MCU, but signs point to the upcoming Avengers movies: Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Coming from the Russo Brothers, Doomsday and Secret Wars will commence filming this year in the United Kingdom and will be filmed back-to-back like their predecessors, Infinity War and Endgame.

Pratt most recently starred in the Russo Brothers’ The Electric State on Netflix alongside Mille Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), so it makes sense that if he were going to return as Peter Quill, he would do so in the Avengers movies. That said, no official confirmation has been made about the cast of the films.

While fans can expect to see Chris Pratt in the upcoming movies Mercy (2026) and Way of the Warrior Kid (TBD), his role in Taylor Sheridan’s future F.A.S.T. movie will no longer be happening, according to reports.

“According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Warner Brothers is in the process of developing a film with the working title F.A.S.T., which will be written and directed by Taylor Sheridan,” The Direct explained. “The report also detailed that 1923‘s Brandon Sklenar (who plays Spencer Dutton in that show) is in talks to star as the main character. If Sklenar lands the role, he will be replacing Chris Pratt as the film’s lead actor.”

Sheridan’s movie was first announced in 2018 when it was revealed Chris Pratt was attached to star as the former special ops commando turned DEA-recruited black ops strike team leader.

“The movie, which has the working title Fast, would be Sheridan’s follow-up to his directorial debut, 2017’s Wind River. Sheridan has been eyeing this as his next directorial effort for quite some time, meeting with top talent since summer to find the best actor for the job,” Variety reported in 2018.

The outlet added: “Since the film carries a budget in the $70 million to $80 million range, Warner Bros. needed a star in order to give it the green light. The studio pumped the brakes on pre-production when Sheridan began work on the second season of his hit Paramount Network drama, Yellowstone.

Brandon Sklenar is no stranger to Taylor Sheridan after playing the role of Spencer Dutton in Sheridan’s Yellowstone spinoff 1923, alongside Harrison Ford (Jacob Dutton) and Helen Mirren (Cara Dutton). While there has been no official confirmation of Sklenar replacing Chris Pratt, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he did considering his ties to Taylor Sheridan.

Sklenar recently appeared as Atlas Corrigan in the embattled production of It Ends With Us (2024). He starred alongside Blake Lively (Lily Bloom) and Justin Baldoni (Ryle Kincaid), who entered into a highly public lawsuit regarding the production of the movie in late 2024.
