Awesome to hear, a big fan. Hope to see more of the original cast. please do not follow comic book, let’s go back to original type story lines. Let’s get it right. So excited. always like to see a woman kicking butt.
I am hopeful that Joss wasn’t as major of a percentage of the creative genius, I remember watching the behind the scenes on DVD and many other writers seemed to carry the weight. He also was responsible for the original movie wasn’t he? That film was terrible…..so I’m not worried about him being gone for this.
Not holding my breath but I’m hopeful…that it won’t be a woke mess. Buffy was unique in the ways they pushed the envelope yet not to the extent that it also pushed away the audience. It was pretty balanced for the times and I hope they read the room.
I was a crazed super fan as a teenager. For those of us that now have kids around the age we were when we watched, I hope it can be something to share with them. I have definitely skipped many episodes of Buffy for sake of my kids when rewatching (they weren’t teens yet and there need to be conversations around the poor choices made throughout the show for the characters). But the characters were made real with their flaws contrasting their values in what is otherwise a very fantastical realm.
Of the original came out, today…with zero changes. YOU would be here screaming about how “woke” it is…raging that the lead was a woman. You’d scream in rage that her best friend is a lesbian. That a black man DARED to play the principal. You would be here who going about DEI. The show constantly spread messages of equality and acceptance and it’s clear you either never watched it, or were too dumb to understand it’s message.
I hope the new show is exactly like the original…cause the original was woke as hell
The music, the characters being pretty different and coming together to use their strengths…and the fact that Buffy was a strong solo player enhanced the aspect of knowing when to reach for connections with others and battling temptation to quit or to do something that’s “fun” vs what’s right/dutiful is what made Buffy great IMO. Of course including the romantic relationships though they were a struggle …always. (Doesn’t have to be a thing IRL).
They had GOOFY monsters and some of the story lines were whackadoodle but the comedic relief and more serious emotional undertones kept it held together tightly.
You do realize Kendra the slayer in season 2 was black and a main character, Willow, was a lesbian. Not sure what you thought you were doing with this comment….
Hopefully they use someone who has real fighting skills.
Buffy spent 6-7 years fighting creatures and still got tossed like a ragdoll… skills never progressed.
She needs to go into a battle like Black Widow!
Also, she needs vampire fighting weapons like Blade!
The Scooby-Doo’s need training as well.
First off it’s not a reboot so please stop saying that. It’s a revival because Sarah Michelle Geller is coming back as Buffy. I have mixed feelings about this on where it will go. I will definitely at least tune in to see what happens.
I’m actually all for a revival, since all the potential slayers had their powers awakened and showed up to lay down the law at the end of Angel I’ve kinda always thought that the spell that activated all potential slayers kept going so theirs always new ones. In my head I always kinda thought of an X-Men school thing happening the Scooby’s and older slayers teaching classes by day and kicking as*es at night watchers and slayers learning at a boarding school.. they could literally explain anyone’s absence by saying “angel is at one of the hellmouth bases in LA with his team” or “Zander is scouting another potential slayer who will be awakened to their powers soon” to give the actors as much or as little involvement in the show as they want.. and I mean buffy came back from the dead seven times I think, Willow came back, spike, Angel they’ve all died so Willow could always find a way to resurrect anyone I’m sure. The original cast would be there for all of us OG fans but there’s fresh faces and drama and action with supernatural elements so this could literally have everything.
I know my comment is a bit convoluted but I couldn’t be more excited to see where they take this.
They could even be training Young wiccans so the school would be Slayer, watcher, and witch, if they want to have no violent or half demons like Doyle they could even go that route but I think that’s unlikely at least at the beginning.. if you haven’t noticed I’ve seriously given this thought lol

What are they thinking doing this without Joss? Where’s greenwalt? Or espenson?
Kev
Sad to see that Joss isn’t part of the project, but that’s understood after the allegations levied against him by Charisma Carpenter.

I just wish some of their old writers would come back that were lesser known. They made the magic happen IMO.

There’s no Buffy without Spike. Spike (James Masters) must come back. Writers will have to come up with a great storyline for them.
