With what it costs, per person, to go to a Disney Park, it is CRIMINAL in my opinion that Cast members are not paid enough to afford housing in the area where they work. Understand that Disney is a FOR PROFIT operation but their profit should not be at the expense of their workers!
I so agree with you, Barbara…. OR Disney could whip up some small efficiency apartments really quickly if they actually gave a damn. They have properties that could easily be subdivided into small units, or “barracks” if housing was truly a goal, to provide for their under-paid employees! Have to laugh at the ridiculousness of the Disney inconsistencies!
The governor didn’t cause your homelessness. Your horrible life choices did. How about you transfer to Disneyland CALI instead of being homeless in Florida? they LOVE spending hundreds of millions on homelessness without actually solving the problem. Just saying 🤷♂️
I voted for trump and dint agree with that idiot that said their life choices contributed to their homelessness. People aren’t black and white either. You just did the same thing that poster did.
I love the new law! Maybe now tax-paying citizens and Orlando’s valued tourists can walk up and down Orange Avenue et al., without having to navigate around, jump over, smell, etc., garbage and human excrement!
Poor WDW, the company doesn’t have enough money to expend in Cast Members. The Walt Disney Word is not a profitable business. Waoooo, !! Simple, it is incredibly a business with enormous potential, value, power, wealth, etc. doesn’t like to invest in their main assets, their employees or Cast members. I am sorry Mr. Walter Disney.
Agree, when scheduled for back to back long shifts, and the employee lives an hour away, the situation becomes the choice to sleep in your car for 5 hours or drive for two and get 3 hours sleep. It starts with Disney’s management and rules especially when a cast member is late and written up.
Here’s hoping DeSantis strokes out. What a satanist that fat loser is. What’s next, hire goons to patrol the state with leather hoods and bats with nails in them? We need fewer Rhondas and more Luigis. It gets worse and worse for average Americans because there are no consequences for these rich people who are trying to grind them into the dirt. I know they think they can push everyone around for the rest of their lives, but Luigi proves it ain’t necessarily so.
Who would have thought that no useful life skills would cause homelessness. Imagine blaming the governor for your useless gender studies degree. You could literally train monkeys to run rides and clean up trash at Disney. Hopefully, robotics takes over the theme park world sooner than later.
Shame on Disney that they are an inhumane employer. The law is good.
Interesting that they protest parental rights in schools but don’t take care of their own employees. Shame! Shame! Shame!
Kissimmee and St. Cloud hotels are crowded with working homeless. All wages, regardless of tourist destination, are too low and folks cannot get approved for monthly apartment rentals.
I was born here in ’73 and it’s always been expensive but costs have went haywire in Florida the past 3-4 years.
I own my land and have for years. It’s tough to watch good hardworking people suffer in Florida but- the bottom line is Florida is for tourists, retirees, and the wealthy. If you can’t already afford a home Florida is NOT the place to start.
Shame on Disney for paying low wages while they extract billions from this state. They are far from the only major company operating this way. Many WalMart employees are on food stamps and housing assistance, so the people of Florida are paying to feed and house Walmarts employees. Disgraceful.
If the state passed a law making homelessness and sleeping on public property illegal, why did Orange County have to pass one? Don’t the state laws apply in Orange County?
If it’s now illegal to sleep on public property, is it illegal for all those tourists to fall asleep on the beach?
My question is how are they going to enforce the the law? Arrest the homeless and make their situation worse? How does this law solve anything or create a way actually help the situation?
Wait! A multi-billion dollar organization such as Disney doesn’t pay their people enough to put a roof over their head? Yet, the complaint is about a state law??? Wow! Talking about focusing on the paper cut and ignoring the cancer.
Disney in Florida owns it’s own town, A/K/A the Municipal Corporation known as Reedy CreekI think that local governments should be the ultimate arbitrator of whether it’s illegal for a baby, elderly person, or homeless person is taking a nap.
When it costs between 8 and 10k to bring your family there for 6 days..that is sickening that this corporation is okay with ANY of their full time employees being homeless. How much would it help if they ALL walked out for a day or 2? Is there a group that would donate $$ so they could all camp out in the parkn lot like a huge block party? Pay for some food trucks n water?
This is sad. The cast members should be paid a fair salary with benefits. I heard that they were trying to end the benefit of cast members getting into WDW for free. Is that true? Did that already occur?? The cast members should get the respect that they deserve. Give them the breaks during the day that they deserve. People know how hot it can be from April (more or less) to November in Florida. Yet, (from what I’ve read) the cast members don’t get much breaks during those months that it’s insanely hot. Someone should do something.

Blah blah blah. Your life choices obviously made you a heartless piece of trash. Here’s hoping you end up in your car as well.

Yes everything is so black and white. Why don’t you grow a conscience.

Why can’t they sleep inside Disneyland?

A useful life skill is empathy.
You should try it sometimes.

Robotics will never take over anything and I look forward to Luddites getting their way with technology abolished. No one will miss technology.
