  1. No, canceling The Acolyte was likely premature, and with so much non network programming taking years between seasons, a more measured approach may have been wiser. Disney caved in to online pressures, that were over the top, to the point where legitimate concerns were lost. The writing was not great to start out with, but improved as the series progressed. Many early episodes of shows I grew to love over the years, are cringeworthy to me now, even though the overall body of work was good. The Acolyte had an appeal, much like Andor, in not feeling like a rehash of the same old thing again and again. Comfort food is great, but a change once in a while is good too.

No. The Acolyte should not have been cancelled. I loved the story and the writing.

I’m tired of this Right Wing extremism. We need more shows like this. Not less. I think it is necessary to show the Jedi in a more realistic light. The universe is huge.

Just because YOU enjoy something, that doesn’t mean the thing in question is good. This is why you have to attribute everything you didn’t like or didn’t understand to “right-wing extremism.” You’re incapable of understanding you like something awful, and have to create reasons to cope with that reality.

It’s ok to like something awful. I love the movie “Mallrats,” but I’m under no delusion that it’s a great film, and I definitely don’t accuse people of belonging to a group I find distasteful just because they don’t like the film. I’d recommend you tone down your narcissism and accept that your enjoyment isn’t actually an objective gauge of that thing’s quality. Data demonstrates this show was unpopular, and your inability to actually understand that data doesn’t change reality.

Doesn’t the data show it was one of the most watched Star Wars shows so far?

I don’t understand why we have to discuss right wing or left wing etc. I don’t need forced liberal or conservative views. I want a great story. Acolyte was lacking but it could be a beginning growth issue. Might have been premature to cancel but it isn’t a loss to me. It wasn’t great and Disney is running other Star Wars shows I’d rather see.

Because the people who enjoy this garbage-tier Star Wars are unable to comprehend they enjoy an awful show. The only possible reason anyone could ever dislike something they enjoy is if that person is a bigot or id10t.

The writing was awful. The show cost a ridiculous amount of money to make. The viewing numbers were atrocious, with a maximum of just over 8 million people watching the entire series (if you divide the total minutes watched by the show’s total run time…which is absolutely a gross overestimation of total people to complete the series, since the viewership drop between the first and second episodes indicates lots of people watched the first episode and never watched another). It was so bad, viewership dropped by nearly 50% between the first and second episodes which were released on the same day, per the report everyone is quoting for the total minutes watched.

Everyone screeching that the show was good, popular and/or heavily viewed is either incapable of understanding data, or just hitting the cope extra hard.
