I’m so sad…. our 17 person family is coming along with my 9 grandchildren to Disneyland in December for Christmas 2025. Small World has been my favorite ride since the very first time I rode at age 5. I’m so disappointed we won’t get the opportunity to share this moment together. 😢
I would bet that Small World will be open by Dec 2025 for your family to enjoy! 💙✨ I’ve heard from several sources it will reopen before May 2025, that they are doing some moderate maintenance and of course removing all of the Christmas/Kwanza stuff.
You’re sad because you don’t understand that the holidays just ended and on.It’s a small world. They wait until january fifteenth to remove all holiday items out of it’s a small world. News flash right has been opened for every christmas
Why is it that anytime someone mentions “Disneyland” that it’s ALWAYS about the WDW Disneyland???? And NEVER about the ORIGINAL Disneyland???? There would be NO WDW had there not been Disneyland in Anaheim, California!!! Please please please give the ORIGINAL Disneyland equal or more press than WDW in the future. It more than deserves it! Think about it……
I agree completely! Disneyworld is NOT better than Disneyland in CA. Bigger yes. The Magic Kingdom is a pale imitation of Disneyland Ca. I do love Animal Kingdom but if I had to choose betwee WDW and DLR I’ll
take Disneyland and CA Adventure always.
I am a huge Disney fan I have been since I was a little kid I’m 58 years old going to be 59 and am planning on coming in March 2025 probably for the last time in a while and now most of my favorite rides are going to be closed how can you go to Disneyland without It’s a Small World
Every ride has downtime for periodic refurbishment and Small World Ian I exception. Especially when you consider the ride is 60 years old and includes water as part of the ride, it needs periodic maintenance. The park also needs to close it to make the transition back to the original Small World overlay after the holiday season ends at DL.
I like, “It’s A Small World “, especially during Christmas season. And besides, you can sit down for a bit, to rest your feet 😉. Hope it’s not gone forever 🙏

Can you imagine the amount of complaints you’d be writing about if they never closed rides for repairs and refurbishment? If all of those 3,000 an hour guests experienced rancid water and constant breakdowns?
Walt is the one who had the vision of the parks being ever-evolving. Is doing away with Tom Sawyer Island really a knife in the heart of the Disney experience? Or is it in keeping with what he wanted?
I think they’re being inconsistent here with their reports; it says “closed indefinitely”, then it says “for renovations” indicating it WILL return. 🤔 They should be more clear. And YES! Definitely been a Disney family since before my birth (I just turned 60), my first stuffed animal in the hospital nursery was Tramp! I could not live happily without Disney in my life. I believe in Walt’s original dream, & so should those currently entrusted with the Parks. This should be an Oath honored. That’s my 2 cents.
I would be terribly sad to see It’s a small world leave. I believe it’s the most ” feel good” ride of all. It makes me cry every time I ride it. It makes you realize what a small world we live and how we are all just people trying to live happy lives. Please don’t let it leave.
I’m a passholder and I have to say it’s frustrating and disappointing how often Disneyland attractions are down for…..the train just came back on line for 1/2 of the holiday season and now it’s down again!!! They hopefully are adding a much needed stop between New Orleans and Toon Town. But I doubt it.
The entire train was closed much of the last year or year before and pretty much all year the New Orleans stop was closed. And for what I’m not sure…a lame tiny fountain and no more dining space which has been sorely needed for at least a decade.
The monorail is another one that seems to be closed 80% of the year or more….I hope it’s just another reskin (of the artistic one, everyone loves the holographic 100 skin). But I’m definitely not holding my breath. They’ve been hiring people that clearly don’t know what they are doing to drive the thing. We had several drivers the last few times that were clearly inexperienced based on how the thing was speeding and then slamming to a stop, and the response they had on the speakers.
They finally opened Space Mountain back up, then Tiana’s and Haunted Mansion, and Small World again….with many other intermittent shut downs and now this. It’s insane. And all of their “updates” to rides have been very disappointing lately. They took forever to add one full set of new scenes to Star Tours for example….it should take a couple days max, maybe a few weeks if they discovered hardware issues. But it took months. This seems to be how they do things now.
Side note; Growing up going to Disneyland several times a year as a kid this was never an issue. Yes I went less often but it was still fairly regular and for a ride to be shut down was big news. ONE ride.
They used to pride themselves on transforming Disneyland for the holidays basically overnight…there are documentaries about it on Disney+ or used to be. I get that they don’t want to force people to do that today and the coordination with lack of work ethic anymore would be daunting….but they are nowhere near as competent with maintaining rides and getting things moving ever since the shutdowns of 2020.
I’m not sure what’s shifted so much. I remember crying for certain leaders to return but they just went the opposite direction.
I hope with this new leadership we can have a whole park again. Or at least deal with one relevant shut down at a time. (Autopia is severely outdated, not “tomorrow” themed for example….and talk about waste if space with the tomorrow land rotunda building. But that would be too simple.
They should not have made Elon Musk mad. He has everything to make tomorrowland. Spacex, the new tech of robots. Even the boring company to allow the park to exspand.
