First off a cast member shouldn’t determine a person‘s eligibility if they can or cannot wait in a line. We canceled our trip for 2025 due to the fact that my partner with a heart condition one kidney and diabetes was unable to wait in line or to get the DS pass for our last tripand due to the fact that the humidity heat and yes, I understand it’s Florida. He gained 20 pounds because of this standing in line or sitting in lines, whatever the event may be and it took him a month to get the fluid off now I addressed this with many people. Yes contact Disney had them do a research yada yada yada to no prevail for us. We got nothing in return so our our future trip has been canceled to never to return again.
Sorry Tony the Troll…it’s not BS. I have a physical handicap where I don’t need a wheelchair but I also can’t stand for an hour or more. Used to never be a problem at Disney until only autism was recognized as a handicap. Cast member I talked to said they were getting a lot of complaints and did not understand herself why Disney did what they did.
Disney is accommodating you by having you use a wheelchair while in line. They are not required to give you u k grade accommodation while others wait in line e and you can sit in an AC bldg and wait.
Yes Disney turned to garbage years ago. I have a wife and son that have spend a lot of time in a wheelchair but there is only one of me to push. So they used to trade off and we could go for half a day and have a great time with a guest assistance card. And then Disney decided to crap all over families with physical disabilities and only cover people with the mental disabilities that they cover. Spend your money somewhere else.
Time for a class action law suit. How does Disney get to determine what ‘disabled’ means? They did it to force us to buy the lightning labe stuff. Purely discriminatory and capitalizing on us.
DISABILITY ACCESS means ANYONE with a disability. Or that’s what it SHOULD mean. It should NEVER be restricted to just one group of people. THAT is DISCRIMINATION. My husband has a physical disability, but it seems like that physical disabilities aren’t covered. So I guess I now have to tell them he is also autistic?
Another reason to NOT renew our Disney passes. The place has been getting worse and worse and worse every year.
it USE to include physical disabilities. we looked into getting a DAS pass for me after our first trip down to DW a number of years ago, (pre-covid..) as I had some issues with mobility after a car accident in 2007 that have slowly been getting worse… but by the time we made it back down, (post covid) they’d changed it to developmental disabilities only, which I did not qualify for.. I do use a scooter in the parks, which helps a lot, but not all of the queues are really capable of allowing you to ride thru, and some of them aren’t designed well for anyone with limited mobility at all… (looking at you, Jungle Cruise at Disney Land… all those stairs and a tiny turnstyle in the middle of the queue.. not cool… haven’t yet made it on the JC at MK, it was shut down when we were there..)
This is still a hot garbage policy and I’m just waiting for someone to file an ADA lawsuit at the federal level. We’ll be coming in force once that happens. And yes, I understand you agree to not join a class action and/or sue the WD Company, but when you are violating federal law any such claim would be void to said language.
Disney doesn’t care about their guests, they show that over and over and over again. We need to all walk away….although a federal class action lawsuit would be awesome! Morgan & Morgan just might take it!
So they no longer honor physical disability help. Myself I can’t stand or sit for extended periods of time due to , 7 back surgeries and a numb left leg plus leg vein issues. Disney used to be accommodating but I guess it’s like everywhere else where too many people abuse the system so they punish the ones who need it
If your doctor feels you have a disability and your state agrees, who is Disney to say you do not? Oh that’s right, they are the greedy ones that sell you Lightning Lane. Shame me for forgetting
Thank you for your service. I’m disabled and a vet just not disabled from the military except for hearing loss and tinitus. Companies need to honor our service disabled vets as does the government. With all of our technology it burns my butt to see a veteran with a hook. We have better technology and they deserve the best
I have four autistic teens and they all wait in line sometimes over an hour. It can be done. If parents teach their child to abuse systems and not teach them not everything will be to their command they will and can learn to wait in line.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. Are you claiming that four Autistic teens standing in line means someone with crutches (or some medical reason they can’t be in sunlight for too long) should be made to suffer? One does not have anything to do with the other.
I am having problems in going due to my disability and it’s shouldn’t be a problem for disney to work with people limited in numbers of people who can help me is OK as we wait for the time before we can go back was fair but greed of Disney’s
Came out and said we’re not going to work with the disabled
Disney is accommodating you by having you use a wheelchair while in line. They are not required to give you u k grade accommodation while others wait in line e and you can sit in an AC bldg and wait.
I am very shocked with Disney never thought they would be like that I haven’t been down there in long time since they changed more into star wars . I am on disability hard time walking arthritis in hands seizures back problem.
I spent 30 years taking severely disabled people to the parks – of all types.
ONLY if the person was not able to stand in the wait line did we use the privilege of “skipping to the front.”
The whole premise of disabled rights used to be – we are the same as everyone else – well then act that way. Too often people want to use the system and sympathies of others to gain an advantage. That is nothing more than bullcrap.
We have to all face it. With so many MAGA cult leaders in the comments, this means they plan on J6ing Disney — unless Disney caters to THEIR demands. 😱
Ether that, or MAGA is too busy trolling the comments to actually go to Disney.
I guess I’ll find out the second half of February. And I’ll be checking with Disney about the TRUTH behind disability rights at their parks.
I Visited january last year and this january. We got DAS on both, but this year I hated the interview, it was super invasive, I needed to talk about my kid behaviour in different places, about his terapy and school. I felt super unconfartable, I even asked if she wanted see the doctors note because would be easier than talking with a tottaly stranger about many personal things. I do not intend on going back disney again, I repeat, was super invasive the questions and she also interview my kid that was also unconfurtable on talking with a stramge in a camera. Last year they just asked to see my son and take a picture not talk with him. Looked about universal and thinking in going there next time. You send all the medical information on line for doctors to analise.
Comments for Disney Updates DAS Disability Policy Overnight, May Have Big Implications for Future Guests

I completely agree with you. It’s ridiculous that someone with a physical disability isn’t considered “disabled” by Disney standards.
One more reason why we will not be renewing our Disney passes. Universal…..here we come!
JustMe
Disney isn’t saying people aren’t disabled, they’re saying they can be accommodated with something other than DAS.
The law requires an accommodation not a preferred accommodation.
Melinda Poff
Like what? What other accommodation is there???
Kg
Universal is one of the first ones to start this. Good luck.
Tony
Bye Felicia…and take your bs story with you!

So laziness is a disability now. Bet you are also one of those people that has an unlicensed service gerble too.

I’m a 100% disabled veteran and don’t qualify either
John
BS alert. I’m 60% disabled vet and used DAS 2 months ago. The cast member I spoke to couldn’t have been nicer.

Exactly! If it is approved by ADA, it should be covered

Sign me up for that lawsuit! While I AM on the Autistic spectrum (therefore, I am DAS privileged), I know INJUSTICE when I see it!

Get a wheelchair instead of using crutches, and if you can’t be in the sunlight, how the hell do move around parks that mostly outside and uncovered?
Tom
O Danny Boy this is gold. This explains a lot about your idiotic and nonsensical rants you consistently post here. Thank you.

A lawsuit based on what? That you didn’t get the accommodation you wanted and refused the offered accommodations?
Good luck with that…you’ll lose, just like the people sued when GAC was shut down.
