This is the stupidest idea ever. Whoever came up with this is a moron and completely out of touch with the all-encompassing vision of the World Walt Disney created for us to escape reality. The WORLD is all encompassing, copying Universal to Keep Up With The Joneses is unoriginal and lacking in creativity, confidence and courage that Walt Disney advocated for when he developed his dream. Stupid. All about chasing the dollar instead of creating the magic that families and their children’s families return to year after year. Sad, really. And stupid.
I agree wholeheartedly. It’s just a stupid idea. The name Walt Disney World is iconic. They should ask themselves, would Roy Disney agree to this? The answer is of course, “Hell no!” If there’s something that Walt or Roy would not do, then these woke imagineers and managers, who would all be mere underlings in their presence, should not do it either, or they should be immediately fired.
Giess they are counting the money they can rake in on Cars themed merch. I loved the Liberty Belle. That and Tom Sawyer Island were part of the charm of Frontierland. With Splash Mountain gone i have no need to visit that part of MK any more. Sad.
There will be no Cars Land. Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat will remain for eternity and Disney has no legal right to remove them. Disney will be removing all Pixar from the parks to avoid paying royalties due to Disney being broken up under antitrust and losing Pixar.
I have no reason to visit Disney World EVER again. With all the crap you have to go through to get in and then they are destroying the nostalgia of the park?!?!? Walt said Florida was big enough to hold all their dreams – well then expand MK – don’t bulldoze it. But that is the idea you see – destroy any inkling of what Walt and Roy did. Iger is the biggest POS ever
I have it on good authority that Crazy Steve and Walt are the same person. Just different personalities depending on the phases of the moon but only when he eats the yellow Skittles, not the other colors, just the yellow, the yellow is the trigger.
No it’s not. It’s a private club for members only run by people who Walt would not welcome and will not be welcome when I take over and make it great again.
You will show proper respect to a military man, civvie. You take orders from me. Do you understand? If military personnel ask you a question you will respond with “Yes Sir.” I will be taking over Disney and making it great again in part by restricting admission to an elite group including those that went during Walt’s lifetime, their relatives, and anyone educated in the way Disney was ran up until Michael Eisner. Not all are welcome at Disney theme parks.
You realize that that rank on my uniform means you take orders from me and it’s the law? Oh and part of my job is policing the Disney fandom, silencing voices that are not meant to be heard, and expelling people from the Disney fan see. It’s called gatekeeping. I will seize Disney in a hostile takeover and usher in the Make Disney Great Again era by being Trump it needs. I will only allow Disney purists including those that went during Walt’s lifetime and their descendants to visit.
As a frequent overseas visitor, I can state that globally, Walt Disney World, is not just “an amusement park”. It’s an American icon . I think more overseas visitors would recognise Cinderellas Castle, than the Liberty Bell or the Lincoln memorial. It’s the definitive example of USA originality and ingenuity. It represents a self made man, who came from very little and invented new genres in film and family parks. He did that through hard work and talent. He lived the “American Dream”. It’s representative of American history and achievement, just as The Tower of London is to the UK. It’s symbolic and instantly recognised as American. As a non US resident, I can see the destruction of the Rivers of America area, as a destruction of US history and a destruction of the dreams and ambitions of Walt Disney, an American icon. There is lots of spare land around the Magic Kingdom that could easily be used for the awful idea of a “Cars” land but Iger is obsessed with destroying the legacy and vision of Walt Disney. I’m surprised they didn’t change the name to “Iger World”.
Disney is changing for the happiness of the big buck boys and what their families and friends want
Not the guests who have kept the parks going for 50+ years
Who cares about a Villains Land!!?
They should put CARS there and leave Tom Sawyer area and the steamboat
Tiana’s ride doesn’t really change the feelings of the good ol’ south,.
It’s just different characters and storyline.
And getting rid of Tinkerbell….
Disgusting!
Walt Disney liked fairies.
Guess the big buck boys, DO NOT BELIEVE IN FAIRIES AND THE REAL HAPPINESS OF WHAT WALT DISNEY IMAGINED!!
Looking forward though to the new theme area in Animal Kingdom and of course, the update with Thunder Mountain, and riding the Cars ride (which really should be where villains land is hopefully not going to be!).
Can’t buy happiness? I get decided CHARGING OTHERS for happiness is even better! Not bringing in hundred-thousands of dollars each day? Um…it needs to be refurbished into..uh…whatever our competition is doing that’s popular.
Perhaps the “powers that be” at Disney need to add new ideas WITHOUT taking away the classic and heart of walt Disney. It’s NOT like they don’t have the land to expand…
Iger waited until it was too expensive to build. THEN, he kept 5hrowing money at Snow Woke. And let’s not forget kissing Trump’s a[censored] to the tune of $15,000,000.
All they can do is repaint/reskin what they already have.
I keep saying they need to turn those giant parking lots into parking garages. They could go from 4-6 lots per park to 1-2. There’s so much expansion space there without removing any attractions. Plus it eliminates the trams and long parking lot walks
I was a little worried that the name change was drastic. But after watching the commercial, I think it’s interesting. Expanding beyond a single land, and from a single world, to infinite worlds. From a story telling point of view, I’m starting to like it.
I agree with others that this change is unnecessary and doesn’t add or take away from the original vision — Walt Disney World. I was worried upon reading the article headline that the unartful and disrespectful Bob Iger was going to do something much worse, based on his recent park changes. I am glad he didn’t.
It’s not all of Walt Disney World, just Disney Studios.
Disney Adventure World. It has had a name change before. The magic is still there, no matter what they call it. I love Walt Disney World. I will still travel to see all the old and new that Disney World holds.
If it were me I would have not changed the name. Keep it Disney World. There is no problem with that name. I honestly think that instead of building new rides (like they have the last few years) that they should focus on fixing the older rides that keep breaking down and the ones that the guests keep vandalising.

Man, some of you people are in desperate need of therapy. It’s an amusement park, get a grip.

Thank you for proving his point.

Bro, you’ve cut and pasted the same “civie” bs on I don’t know how many posts. It’s kinda sad. I actually feel a little sorry for you.

Quit lying about the removal of tinker Bell. Amazing how quickly lies spread online.

Sounds like Disney is a bit rattled by Epic Universe opening in a few months!
Danny O.
Can you blame them? Iger still thinks Snow Woke will be a success.
This is just as dumb as threatening neighboring countries that have always been there for you.
Vicki
New merchandise to sell with new name. It will remain Walt Disney World to me.

They couldn’t even afford it — even if they figured that out. Snow Woke and the $15,000,000 Trump worshipping start-up fee cost them too much.
