And, this is that new generation that actually LIKES “The Rescuers Down Under” now, right?
(“The eagle scenes were so cool!”)

…Ours that saw it in the theater didn’t.
Although showing it in a double feature with the Mickey Mouse “Prince & the Pauper” turned out to be a big comeback boost to Mickey’s career.

John Rolfe is Pocahontas’ real-life husband, how in the world are you going to criticize the original for being historically inaccurate and then not even realize that the sequel is actually *more* accurate? That right there negates your entire article because it shows that you didn’t do even the bare minimum of research required.

Litte Mermaid 2 has some of the most logically confusing moments that end up being unintentionally hysterical. The supremely sudden introduction of Morgana, and Sebastion stating “Ursala’s crazy sister!” had me laughing hard. Like. Of course Ursula had a sister who sounds exactly like her!

I disagree with the criticism for Mary poppins returns. I thought it was one of the better Disney movies in recent years.

A reminder that Walt was against making sequels because they cost more to make and generate less profits

  6. I did not think Pocahontas 2 was that bad. My least favorite Disney sequel is Atlantis Milo’s Return, so much potential and it turned out terrible!

Totally disagree with WIR2. There are WAY worse sequels and Ralph2 was a very unique way of introducing the Internet into the gaming world.

Ralph Breaks the Internet threw away 2 of the 4 main characters and gave them less screentime than virtual avatars of Disney IP cameos (Felix and Calhoun were reduced to a babysitting plot that then got cut anyway, instead of them coming along on the adventure) and the internet didn’t do much other than references and memes. It also completely contradicted the first movie about “going Turbo”, and introduced tons of errors (Sugar Rush now suddenly only has one cabinet so the plot can work, Litwak’s first name is wrong, Vanellope rejecting the princess title and being a president is ignored so avatars of the Disney princesses can be shoved in, and Ralph is made into a childish idiot).

The creators had tons of unused ideas that were touched upon in interviews and concept art, but Disney didn’t allow the movie to be made their way (despite the crew doing a fine job in the first one). This resulted in director Rich Moore (who also directed the first movie) leaving Disney altogether a few months after RBTI’s release. It’s just sad all around with all the wasted potential.

There’s a difference between needing a sequel vs. needing a continuation of the same plot. Wreck-It Ralph may not have needed the latter, but it definitely needed the former – an actual *sequel*.

What is the relationship among Ralph, Vanellope, Felix and Calhoun like now, since we didn’t get to see them interact as much together as they did in separate pairs? How did they develop and what can test their bond now? Think of all the possibilities the arcade setting brings – there’s no reason this couldn’t have been a fantastic series like Toy Story if Disney just let the crew do what they wanted instead of the always-a-failure “how do you do, fellow kids” route.
