Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this holiday season were reportedly visited by a real-life Grinch, with presents allegedly being stolen on Christmas Eve. According to a report from WDWNT, at least one thief scoured the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, targeting stockings and other presents guests had laid out to celebrate Christmas.
Multiple campsites were affected, with one “Grinch” being spotted riding around in a golf cart, hitting campsites as they passed them by.

Fort Wilderness is one of many resorts scattered across the Walt Disney World Resort, but this rustic location may be one of the most popular and iconic of them all. Fort Wilderness is split into several categories, offering guests both modern-day amenities with its luxurious hotel rooms and a more “natural experience” with its campsites.
Travelers can set up their tents, campers, and RVs at these campsites, making for one of the most down-to-earth places found at Walt Disney World.
Community plays a big role at the Fort Wilderness Campsites, with guests spreading holiday cheer in numerous ways. During the holidays, guests staying at the campsites often decorate their sites with festive lights, flags, inflatable characters, and other Christmas decor.
Another popular thing for guests to do during Christmas is to exchange gifts by way of stockings, leaving them out for others to enjoy. Small treats, tokens, and other gifts are left in these stockings, with fellow campers encouraged to take an item for themselves. However, at least one Christmas thief ruined this gift exchange, taking multiple items from campers.
Employees were notified that there had been someone taking presents from guests staying at Fort Wilderness, though the damage had already been done.
It’s unknown who was behind the Christmas robbery or how many campers were actually affected. Disney has yet to release an official statement on the matter.

As stated earlier, Christmas is a pretty big deal for Walt Disney World guests, making it one of the most popular and busiest times of the year for the iconic Orlando Resort. Millions of guests pass through the turnstiles each year, and Disney deploys all kinds of special, limited-time treats, decorations, and other experiences to help visitors ring in both Christmas and the New Year.
Disney is currently hosting Jollywood Nights, a festive nighttime party, at its Hollywood Studios theme park. This ticketed event includes access to special attractions and experiences, like live shows and even ice skating. The event made its debut in 2023 but received a string of poor reviews from attendees in its inaugural year.
However, it appears some of the first-time kinks have been ironed out, and Jollywood Nights is expected to remain a core part of Walt Disney World’s Christmas offerings.
