With the holidays and cold weather coming, we tend to focus more on the homeless as those with homes count their blessings. However, the problem has only gotten worse over the last year.
According to the January 2023 was the highest month for homeless people in the United States, with a staggering 653,104 people on the street. That was a 12 percent increase over the previous year. No statistics are yet available for 2024.
There is no official count of the number of homeless people in the United Kingdom; however, some estimates put the total number at 358,370, a 10 percent increase over last year.

Marvel fans will recognize one of those British homeless men. According to a recent TikTok post, 17-year-old Jack Veal, who played young Loki in the Disney+ series Loki for two episodes, is homeless.
Veal said in this post:
Hi. I’m a famous actor. I’m 17, and I’m homeless. I haven’t mentioned much about what’s been going on in my life, but I think it’s time to reveal the truth. Without delving too much into the details, I was abused at home. It was physical violence, emotional abuse and etcetera.
I didn’t have a very good upbringing. I struggle with mental health. I have autism, ADHD, and am being screened for bipolar and psychosis. I am currently sleeping in a trailer that has smashed-in windows, is unsafe, is two hours away from my work, which means I struggle to get to work every day.
Veal told his fans in the post that he has been working as a personal trainer and that he cannot stay with his grandparents because his grandfather is terminally ill.
Like many homeless people, Veal also did not have access to his medication or mental health professionals who could help him through this situation.
Veal began his career in 2017 when he was 10. He appeared in five episodes of the Netflix series The End of the F****ng World and the Amazon Prime series Tin Star before appearing in season one of the Disney+ Marvel series.
His post was viewed nearly half a million times, and after it went out to the world, Veal revealed to his fans a few days later that he could spend a few days at a friend’s house.
Veal has not acted since 2022. He asked his fans to help spread awareness about the problem of homelessness worldwide.
According to reports, Disney paid $23 million per episode of Loki season one for a total cost of $141 million.
