Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ Theme Park Hit by Sudden Storm, Guests Flee

What happens when a random downpour hits one of Walt Disney World Resort‘s most immersive lands? A group of Disney Park guests recently discovered what it was like to weather a storm inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The Star Wars land is home to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Oga’s Cantina, and two Lucasfilm-themed attractions: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

It also features multiple walk-up snack and drink windows and merchandise stores–including one that lets guests make their own Lightsabers and build Droids! Besides its two attractions and restaurants, much of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is outside, including a market area.

Inside the Magic recently reported declining crowd levels in Disneyland Resort’s version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Although a concerning trend for Disney Parks fans and theme park executives, minimized crowding might have saved some Disney’s Hollywood Studios guests who became trapped in a small archway during a sudden downpour in Central Florida.

TikTok user @mikemolinari shared this video of his party stuck under the archway as the storm rolled in. Across the walkway, guests sheltered in a merchandise location as a few families braved the rain:

“When it starts pouring out of nowhere at Hollywood Studios and you are stuck under an archway for protection,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “The struggle is real…Nothing like a random Florida storm.”

Disney Parks fans shared their tips for managing rain at the Central Florida theme parks.

“That is why you look at the weather the day before and book a dining reservation during the midday storm,” said @negghostrider20.

“Should’ve booked it to Baseline [Tap House],” @packgirlie wrote.

Others suggested embracing the rain.

“That happened to us last time,” @cottagesweetscelebration recalled. “We ran over to Toy Story Land and splashed around in the rain. We always say a rainy day at Disney is better than a regular day at home.”
