It seems like not a day goes by when Disney Experiences doesn’t announce a closure—temporary, indefinite, or permanent—at the flagship resort in Central Florida. This week, Disney confirmed that the Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom Park would be the latest attraction to receive a closure in January 2025.
Seemingly to make changes following President-Elect Donald Trump’s ascension to the Oval Office, the Hall of Presidents joins a long list of other early 2025 shutdowns, including Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom.
Many are wondering whether Disney World is worth visiting next year, as the series of refurbishments and permanent closures is offputting, especially considering the rising cost of a vacation. Unfortunately, closures are part and parcel of the theme park experience. And, as often is the case, they’re completely out of Disney’s control.
In another round of closures, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will once again close at Disney World. On the official website, there are no times listed on both Saturday, December 21, and Sunday, December 22. While there is no clear announcement as to why this is the case, another cold front is on its way through Central Florida as the weekend nears.
“Expect rain chances to drop to around 20-30% on Thursday, and then mostly dry conditions for most areas through the weekend,” Click Orlando reported. “When it comes to the temperatures, they will cool slightly on Thursday and Friday, with highs in the low to mid-70s and then dipping into the 60s on Saturday.”
The report continued: “Overnight lows by the weekend will dip into the low 40s. For early Saturday and Sunday mornings, wind chills could drop into the upper 30s to low 40s inland, especially west of I-95.”
Disney will always shutter the water parks when temperatures drop, or inclement weather occurs. At present, Disney World only has Blizzard Beach to contend with, as the pair of water parks operate on an alternate basis. This means that while guests enjoy Blizzard Beach, the Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is indefinitely closed. Blizzard Beach is set to reopen on Monday, December 23, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The upcoming closure of the water park comes after a December littered with shutdowns due to cold fronts striking the Sunshine State. One extended closure in early December lasted for six consecutive days, as did a closure at Universal Orlando Resort’s Volcano Bay Water Theme Park.
