There is more to Disney World than just rides and attractions. There are also the fireworks, the parades, the evening shows and so on and so forth

    1. ROGER D STEVENS

You can find that CRAP anywhere, but Disney rides are one of a kind. It is not Disney World or Land anymore. It is Moneyland or DISAPPOINTMENTLAND.

      1. JoeNYWF64

Go on Carousel of Progess & Spaceship earth while u can. I predict a much cheaper to maintain just 3 minute roller coaster put inside the latter! – like the lookalike! Eurosat CanCan Coaster dome.

      2. Dyke Finger

Absolutely. Disney Segregations between rich and poor. Paying for hopping between parks. Replacing Fast Pass, free for all, by Lightning Lane for the rich.

  2. David

    Andrew, I agree. Well written.

    1. Mitch Reynolds

It took y’all this long to realize that Disney is awful? Hideous cost to benefit ratio. But y’all fanboys are gonna fanboy. Yall will continue to leave a boatload of money there while subjecting your selves to discomfort and disrespect.

I completely agree with you. I’m as old as Disney World, and I’ve had the privilege of watching it evolve over the years. Many beloved attractions are now memories—Horizons, World of Motion, and The Living Seas among them. I miss them deeply, but I’ve come to understand that change is inevitable.

In my experience, the only constant in life is change, and we can’t stop it. We have two choices: either accept and embrace it, allowing ourselves to evolve alongside it, or cling to the past and risk missing out on the present. Take it from someone who’s witnessed countless transformations at Disney World—welcoming the new with joy and enthusiasm is the best way forward. After all, there’s no going back, only forward into new adventures.

    1. Steve

Wrong. Change is not inevitable. I don’t change and neither does anyone in my family. There is no more forwards because it’s over. The only way now is backwards and when I take over Disney and usher in the Make Disney Great Again era, the parks will only go backwards and bring back old things like they never left. And I’ll have you know that there will be no Cars Land or a Villains Land, or a Monsters Inc area. The Rivers of America are never closing and Disney upon being broken up will have to get rid of all Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars attractions because they will have to pay billions to keep them otherwise. Disney under me will go back to the 60s and be asking “What would Walt do?” to get things done.

      1. Luke

Walt literally said Disneyland is never finished. It should be constantly added to and changed when technology’s do

        1. Steve

Walt is dead and that philosophy died with him. He also said as long as there is imagination in the world and there is not a single drop of imagination left in the world. It’s all over. Disneyland itself was officially completed in 1995 with Indiana Jones. They had a good 40 year run. Disney when I take over is abandoning that philosophy in favor of Make Disney Great Again, which means going backwards and ultimately stopping building new things, becoming stagnant and reliant on the Disney name alone.

          1. Rery Ro

So, even your fantasy is a fantasy — “What would Walt do”? immediately followed by “Walt is dead”. You obviously don’t even know what YOU want.

          2. Steve

It means doing things the way Walt used to do and being stuck in a 20th century worldview. Basically being stuck in the 1960s. Basically making all hand drawn animation films, no sequels, no remakes, and relying on in-house studios making movies like The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Black Hole, Something Wicked This Way Comes and Pete’s Dragon. It means almost no attractions based on pre-existing IP and not owning other studios like Marvel or Pixar. It means running Disney like how Card Walker and Ron Miller did and maybe how Michael Eisner did before Frank Wells died.

  4. Pat

Yes, let’s keep bad/outdated rides around because you rode them as a kid.

    1. Steve

Nothing is outdated and none of these rides are going away. Tom Sawyer Island will still be there for the 75th in 2046 along with Splash Mountain. There is no Tiana either and never will be. Yes let’s keep things because the original generations rode them as kids so their own kids can be their clones and like the same things. When I take over Disney, the parks will stop changing and never add anything new again after I bring back a lot of old things like Mr. Toad, Horizons, Living Seas, and Alien Encounter. People will visit Disney parks frozen in time because the Disney name is enough.

    2. ROGER D STEVENS

Do we throw away are collectibles because they are old and outdated? Do we throw Grandma and Grandpa out because they are old and outdated. Do we quit watching old and outdated movies? Your statement really sucks and old and outdated.

      1. Pat

Collectibles usually have monetary value. People aren’t theme park rides. Movies are already done, and paid for. You don’t have to constantly pay to upkeep them, and they don’t take up limited space where something better could be built. We don’t get around in horse and buggy anymore do we? Things need to change with the times. Walt knew that.

        1. Steve

First of all none of these “changes” are happening at all. No Villains Land is coming and no Cars Land is coming. Secondly, no things don’t need to “change with times” because times are over. History is done. Things need to stay the same and people need to learn to stay the same like me. Walt is also dead and that philosophy died with him. When I take over Disney that philosophy is going in the dustbin of history where it belongs and Disney will be locked in time and place, frozen in the 20th century. People are not going to stop going because there’s nothing new anymore and the parks are only catering to people that came of age in the 20th century and deciding what kids want. Disney can survive on its name alone and any park carrying a Disney name will attract people.

      2. Dyke Finger

All over the world in 60s and 70s historic old towns were demolished and replaced by contemporary concrete and glass boxes.
Now mass tourism wants to see old towns. Sorry, gone forever.

  5. The dig was in dinoland was a great area for rider exchange and a place to chil out. Its a shame many friends of mine worked in that area. Its a shame they did this to dome if their cast. I was a money maker photograoher and one of their best and they still let me go wrongfully. They are losing the pourpose of Animal kingdom which is educational adventures.

  6. Tania Hall

I have never been to Disney land Florida only Disney land Paris so I only know the rides there not at Florida. but would like to go one day through to see how different it is from the other one.

    1. Zilma A Osle

There are plenty of differences. I’ve never been to any Disney park that wasn’t Florida. I do miss some of the older rides (World of Motion, The Living Seas, etc) but, at the same time change can be a good thing. As long as what they build is related to the subject that the ride that they demolished then I guess that I’m ok with it. The one that I’m really bummed about is Dino Land USA. It’s animal related. There isn’t (anymore) anything else on WDW property that’s dino related. I LOVE the Dinosaur ride. It’s one of the best on WDW property. Now they’re demolishing it from Encanto/Tropical Americas. What happened to the no Ip’s in Animal Kingdom? With the exception of Avatar Land everything else was unique in Animal Kingdom. Now they’re getting ride of Dino Land USA!!!! Geez!!!! Put Encanto in the Magic Kingdom. That’s basically all (with the exception of Frontierland) Disney Ip’s. Encanto would make more sense there. Leave Dino Land USA alone. Unless, you’re going to refurbish it to make it cooler. I agree with getting rid of Chesters and Hesters Carnival game area. It makes no sense at all. That space could have been used for another attraction and/or store related to dino’s. Maybe even a family friendly roller coster. One that’s dedicated to the flying dino’s or a water flume ride dedicated to the water creatures that were there during the time of the dino’s. That would have been so cool to see. But, no!!!! Now it’s Encanto. I’m pretty sure that it’ll look nice but, is it really totally dedicated to animals???? That’s the question. About Tom Sayers Island. I’ve ever really been there. I would have used some of the land to make some ride dedicated to the Mark Twain character instead of demolishing the whole area. Oh well!!!!! I know people might be a bit upset when I say this but, I’m going to write it anyway. They should get rid of the Tomorrowland Speedway. It reeks of gas, it causes pollution, it’s really loud, and it’s not that entertaining. So, get rid of that ride. Unless you can refurbish it by making the cars electrical/solar power. Then the air around there will be breathable. I also wish that they’ll bring back Alien Encounters. That (at least to me) wasn’t that scary at all. Maybe for the kids under the age of 10. Still, I prefer that over Stitches Great Escape.

  7. Living in Florida, ìt has always been easy to visit WDW. However, I no longer have the desire to go there. Taking out The Rivers of America, the riverboat and Tom Sawyers Island, there will no longer a place to rest relax and have a lemonade. Star Wars is popular, but not for me. Taking out the beautiful fountain in EPCOT broke my heart. And, Club cool is being downsized, Taking away walking thru the ice cave has not been there for many years. However, mÿ biggest concern are the prices Disney now charges for everything. Pay an outrageous amount just to get in and then having to pay extra for certain rides is ridiculous. And, if you don’t have a reservation, too bad. Having to do everything via their app is not my idea of a fun day. Add resorts, meals and souvenirs ànd it is cost prohibitive to me. I’m sorry to say, but Disney’s stock sign should be “G” for greed. (Sorry this comment is so long but feel it needed to be said).

    1. Rroe

YES, hurry now to the Epcot festival and get your 2 ounces of fried rice for $10.00……..OUTRAGEOUS!!!! but that’s Disney.

  8. I’m sorry to say that I own a few shares of stocks. Had nothing to do or say about any changes! I’m a very long time Disney fan. I saved pins and a lot.
But for me I feel that they are going to Kill Walt Disney ‘s dream. Of it being a great place where you enter the gate and become a little kid again. Now I see. Disney losing the past, and memories for me from so long ago, I just turned 77, but I still remember original Disney !

  9. John O

Great article. Especially your comment on “old stuff”. You’re exactly right. It isn’t old stuff. It’s the stuff that makes memories . It’s why we love the place. Guardians will never be the reason we keep going back.

  10. Gary

I remember talk of a 5th park why don’t Disney keep and repair the long time ones and put the new ones in the 5th park !!

  11. ROGER D STEVENS

Do we throw away are collectibles because they are old and outdated? Do we throw Grandma and Grandpa out because they are old and outdated. Do we quit watching old and outdated movies? Your statement really sucks and old and outdated.

  12. Carol J

The first time I went to DisneyWorld was when it opened in 1971. Took my children there almost yearly in the 1980’s and 90’s. With the closure of all the “historical” ride, it has lost its appeal for me. Haven’t been in 9 years and don’t plan on going back. We use our Disney time share and go other places. So sad.

  13. Donna

Some of your need to take your meds and get a life. It’s a theme park. Sad.

    1. Steve

No it’s not a theme park. It’s a private club for members only where not all are welcome and management is not welcome either. Walt would never allow Crooked Bob or his supporters to visit and Disney parks will be restricted to purists only when I take over

      1. Donna

Thank you Steve for proving my point.

        1. Steve

You will show proper respect to a military man, civvie. That rank on my uniform means you take orders from me and so does Disney. You aren’t welcome at Disney and neither is Crooked Bob or anyone who supports him. I will be the Trump Disney needs to make it great again when I take over. Everything will be done by asking “What would Walt do?” again as it was after his passing. Disney under me will be run by people whose brains are frozen in the 1960s. Like what’s going to happen when the parks stop changing under me? They’ll go bankrupt? And what are people going to do when I restrict admission to purists only? I’ll be sued?

          1. Donna

Haha, just because they let you wear a uniform at the ice cream shop doesn’t mean you are in the service. But again thank you for proving my point that there is a real need for asylums in this country. Don’t forget the sprinkle topping

          2. Steve

This is serious. I am a military man and have family in Congress. Sit down and don’t speak unless you’re spoken to. That rank on my uniform means you take orders from me, do you understand? You answer “Yes Sir” when asked a question. Asylums are illegal and unconstitutional, too. Thanks for also proving why you’re not welcome at Disney theme parks and I stand by the fact that Disney parks are private clubs. You’ll do better to think of them like the Augusta National Golf Club, home of a tradition unlike any other: The Masters.

I am hyped for these changes, I am happy to say sayanora to seeing Brer Bear’s butt entirely too much and providing a refreshing makeover on this classic ride that isn’t so problematic – the ride should’ve never been built with that theme – it was a banned movie prior to construction at WDW. They are eliminating Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America because they were under-utilized – you can’t be mad if they get rid of attractions that weren’t drawing their fair share of the crowds (and leading to overcrowding at other attractions.) The Muppets hurts – but I’ve already written off DHS since I do not enjoy Pixar and Star Wars IPs so that park was already a dead park for me but I’m glad it exists for the fans that do love those IPs so they stay consolidated and maybe don’t leach into the other parks. A villains land is everything and long overdue. I do think it’s weird they just didn’t remove the the circus area that was once built for Mickey’s Birthday and rethemed since that area was never designed to be a permanent fixture in the first place. They do need to finish updating Tomorrowland – Tron was a good start but there’s a lot there that needs updated.

    1. Steve

None of these changes are happening so forget about them. Splash Mountain is not closed either and there is nothing wrong with Song of the South. The Rivers of America is not closing either and people do visit them. Who cares if they don’t either? Purists want them and purists are the only guests who matter. Disney when I take over will stop changing and become stagnant. Kids going to have to like what their parents like and guests will be clones with the same tastes. Almost every IP will be gone from the parks.

  15. Andrew

They are going to take out “useless” disney real estate to put in IP attractions that can sell lightning lane tickets. Its called monetization

  16. Marc Katz

    Spot on…

Prices keep going up while the warmth and magic are slowly be big phased out one memory at a time…….so so sad 🙁

  17. TJ

Aerosmith might not be hip to you…but us old folk who love Disney also still love Aerosmith. And a lot of younger people still love our old rock n roll!! Sad day for that coaster…the music fits the actions experienced on the coaster. That being said, I also ALWAYS went to see Muppet 3D when I was at the studios. I also still miss the Christmas lights back tthere!!

  18. John

Who else thinks this Steve guy is a 350 pound, moomoo wearing, 40 year old virgin with small…feet?

    1. Steve

You realize it’s against the law in the US to disrespect military personnel and you take orders from me? Last person to do so is now on trial for it. Sit down. Disney also has to take orders from me.

  19. Jon

I think this Steve guy definitely has a few screws loose. That aside sure I miss some of the rides that have closed over the years. 20,000 leagues under the Sea, Honey I shrunk the audience and a few others. It is not just Disney, Universal does it too, Earthquake, T2, Twister, Shrek etc…. I’m likely postponing my next trip just to see the new stuff finished. I honestly can’t wait. Also Walt himself said Disneyland and World will never be finished. Now if we were talking removing Pirates, Space Mointain or Haunted Mansion then I might agree but thankfully we aren’t.

    1. Steve

My screws are perfectly intact and you too will show proper respect to a military man and follow orders, civvie. It’s you and anyone who supports Crooked Bob who has screws loose. Yes, Disney is getting trust busted and losing everything it bought. Also, Walt Disney is dead and the idea of the parks always changing died with him. It’s over. The parks were completed in the 1990s with Disneyland itself being completed with Indiana Jones. They had a good run and when I take over, that philosophy is going in the dustbin of history where it belongs to be replaced with Make Disney Great Again. It’ll be like Trump took over Disney and the parks will only go backwards and rely on the Disney name to survive. I can confirm as someone who was there for the 75th in 2046 that yes 20,000 Leagues is back and Alien Encounter is back and causing millions of unsuspecting guests to once again be traumatized and exit the attraction with thousand-yard stares.

      1. John

Hi crazy Steve, big fan of your crazy rants, very entertaining. One question, if I am also in the military and I outrank you shouldn’t you call me sir? I mean, that is how it works right?
