Terrible ride the replacement is far more racist then its predecessor since unlike splash they did not work with the NCAPP and accidentally put the attraction in Avery Island well that’s where it’s based on so slaves died of horrific deaths there far more racist then a carefully made splash mountain…
Tiana is slimey and gross and built on lies. Lies that song of the south is racist, lies that splash is controversial and lies of mamma odies boat in the original concept art. It will never be splash and destroyed something that was loved by the majority if it was good Tokyo wouldn’t be fighting to keep there splash.
Kids today have no idea about racism in one of the greatest movies the company ever made. Bret Rabbit, Bret Fox and Bret Bear show no signs of it. If it wasn’t for one simple minded team of “experts” who only live to find fault with everything, the world would still be enjoying SOTS.
“Disney’s most infamously racist film, Song of the South (1946)”??? NO ONE who has actually watched that iconic movie thinks it is “racist”! (Free on You Tube 1 hr 32 min).
It is a reworking of Aesop’s fables and stars a talented black actor playing a respected sage who helps both the farmers and the plantation owners. The happiest “Zip” song is sung by a trio of kids who are white, black, male, and female.
Unless they are changing it to a ride based on the Song of The South – I could care less. When is Bob Iger who has presided over the destruction of Disney leaving??? Not soon enough.
Song of the South was not racist. Tales of Brer Rabbit are based on African folk stories that slaves told to keep their culture alive. James Baskett, who portrayed Uncle Remus, was the first black, male actor to be awarded an oscar. He was a trailblazer for black actors. Instead of celebrating an African story and an award winning black actor, Disney destroyed their legacy for a cheap makeover that references an actual location where slaves were treated appallingly and died in their hundreds.
The actor who played Uncle Remus didn’t get very good treatment from the studio due to segregation laws. He wasn’t awarded until long after society started integrating. That, and he didn’t get to go to opening night, despite having a major part. So, there was definitely racism going on.
The film has actually been criticized since its release in the 1940s, from its submissive stereotypes to its depiction of slavery as a positive thing. It was and still is very controversial. Definitely a product of its time.
The ride was profiting off of a very tragic period in history. Think of the very first Titanic movie, which had its share of criticism from survivors. Though, the Titanic movie was marketed as the tragedy it was. It didn’t gloss over anything. People knew exactly what they were getting into. Not that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is any better. That one is an obvious cash grab.
Disney has never been good at representing minorities. That is Marvel’s thing. Disney is more about girl power. They’re really good at representing women.
I’ve been many times to both Disney world and Disneyland, but can’t see me ever going back. It’s not the cost. It’s too expensive, but I can afford it. But I liked the simplicity of picking up a fast pass and then just chilling until it was time. I’m not prepared to buy into addition queueing systems at additional cost. It’s expensive enough just to get in, but again it’s the principle not the cost that puts me off, and the woke makeovers.
If you’re going to take away something that everyone loves then you better do it better. Whatever imagineer was in charge of this revamp failed tremendously. There was plenty of opportunity to make the ride awesome but it just didn’t happen. And they took plenty of time making it meh.
I have Song of The South on video and it is not racist nor does it feature slavery as it is set after the emancipation of slaves.
It teaches good moral lessons against bullying, which is unbelievably relevant today.
SPOILER ALERT!
I cried when the little white girl’s dress was ruined yes the white child who lived in a shack with poor parents and mean older brothers. But, no one ever remembers this family nor that Uncle Remus is a wonderful character who is kind and caring to the little boy with an emotionally distant mother.
But, hey! It’s a racist movie right! No, it’s not, what is racist is removing from public sight one of the finest acting performances in any Disney live action movie, that of James Baskett. Do you realise that erasing him is racist.
Princess &the frog is extremely racist!!
“Big Daddy” voiced by Goodman is called the “cotton king”!!!
And the white bankers trying telling the girl “someone like you”!!!
At least Song of the south was literally about the political fight to end slavery.
And old Uncle Reamus was the 1st black actor to receive the academy award!!!
I don’t know that i care to ride it Disney took the excitement away with the virtual cue. I remember running to splash mountain rope drop opening day in the 1985 with my uncle
Disney lives for woke and caters to them and too say the ride is better recieved in California is a no brainer, liberal California and still predominantly southern Florida is a world of differance,my family and I have been going to Disney world since 1994 and splash mountain was always a favorite to us and in all those years I never once heard from black, yellow, brown, white or any other color of person a complaint about the ride or comments about racism, what I did hear everytime was people of all colors singing zippity do da and Laughing and having a good time Disney allowed a group of cruds to destroy a good story and to tell you the truth unless you watched the movie you have no idea who the characters in the ride are but they are not racist and if I have my way I will not ever ride that remake of splash mountain..
Shame on you Disney
Song of the South was NOT racist, but erasing James Baskett, a real black actor who won an Oscar during Jim Crow is. And based on what? “Perceptions” pushed by the woke media and opportunistic academics? Because of hateful, brainless, funless revisionism like this, I can’t see myself ever visiting Disney parks again.
The Tiana ride is a ‘one and done’ ride only. Splash Mountain was a must do.
Anyone who bothered to do the research would know that Splash Mountain and the movie Song of the South are not racist. Anyone who bothered to read the Uncle Remus tales would see why so many of us treasured Splash Mountain.
If they were going to replace it; they ‘coulda’ ‘shoulda’ done a much better job with it. The only good thing about the Tiana ride is the drop; whereas before the entire ride was magnificent!
The racists changes to the attractions is ludicrous. It is our history.
The same mentality has erased Aunt Jemima from the syrup bottle who became the first Black Female millionaire.
When you erase our past you are doomed to repeat it.
The new princess frog ride is absolutely Nothing like the movie. And this is one of the few Disney movies that’s Hasn’t gotten any sequel or live action spinoff.
Compare the DCA little mermaid ride that literally tells the exact same story as the original film.
This new princess frog ride dies Nothing of the sort!!!
It’s obviously just a woke blakdace facade so they can make extra money branding the old restaurant, collecting& selling digital analytics from forcing guests to install spam software apps, and Virtue Signaling

There is no portrayal of slavery in ‘Song of the South’. It takes place after the Civil War. You don’t know what you are talking about.

To me “inclusivity” should include EVERYONE, no? You do not cure the problem by excluding other races, THAT is the definition of racism.
