I am terrified of bed bugs. When my husband and I travel, we don’t bring our luggage in until we do a thorough room inspection. We pull the sheets back and look at the mattress on at the seams. We check each pillow. We check the sofas and chairs. We pull the covers back and check for clean sheets. We make sure the bathroom is clean and – if there is a kitchen, that it is also clean. This has saved us more than a few times. It takes about 10 minutes to inspect, but it’s just our routine. We check 2 star hotels and 5 star hotels.

We stayed at Cabana Bay the last week of September. We rode out the hurricane there.
At no time did we see any bed bugs.
The rooms could use a face lift, but, they were extremely clean!!!!
The furnishings are getting a little tired looking, but overall a great experience!!!

Just at Universal Cabana Bay Thanksgiving 2024 and got bed bugs. My husband had a ring around his head – horrible. Didn’t even offer to pay for the cost of the laundry. They took pics of his arms and hands and head and said they would get back to us. Offered nothing. I would have settled for paying the laundry bill. Wow. Worst response ever. Someone needs to be trained. Will check next time but then again won’t stay there.
