Emergency Alert Sent Out at Disneyland, Hundreds Run From Affected Area

Last week, hundreds of Disneyland Resort guests fled an unknown emergency at Disney California Adventure Park. Disney cast members cleared the entire Pixar Pier area of the Southern California Disney Park.

When Disney California Adventure Park opened in 2001, Pixar Pier was known as Paradise Pier. In 2018, the area reopened as the reimagined Pixar Pier, with its attractions rethemed to fan-favorite characters and properties.

King Triton’s Carousel of the Sea became Jessie’s Critter Carousel; California Screamin’ became The Incredicoaster; Mickey’s Fun Wheel and Sun Wheel became Pixar Pal-A-Round.

Following the transformation, Toy Story Midway Mania! remained the same. The all-new Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind attraction opened in 2019.

Last week, TikTok user @presleyspam49 shared this video of themselves and hundreds of other Disney Park guests evacuating Pixar Pier. They mistakenly wrote that the entirety of Disney California Adventure Park was being evacuated, but other guests clarified that it was only one land.

According to other Disney Park guests, Disney cast members evacuated the land shortly before Disney California Adventure Park closed at 10:00 p.m. Different theme park areas remained unaffected.

“I was there, they only evacuated Pixar Pier it was already almost 10 p.m.,” @mcmendoza090 wrote. “…It was close to closing time. We were coming off Pixar Pier when they were trying to get everybody out of that area. But we stayed in cars land until closing with no problem.”

Another guest said the nearby Paradise Gardens Park area was also under an emergency evacuation order.

“We were there we were about to ride [Goofy’s Sky School] and they said we needed to exit,” said @sradurazo. “They were evacuating…Even the cooks were leaving from the restaurants nearby.”

“A worker told us it was an emergency,” @skyedecosta replied.

Some commenters claimed a gas leak caused the evacuation, but Disneyland Resort didn’t publicly substantiate that claim. Disney California Adventure Park eventually reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
