My husband and I are childless Disney adults. We did our time at Disney with children, but we now continue to go even though our kids are no longer going with us, but the story is more about a problem with the disrespect for handicap and wheelchair bound people. We were in the line for Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Break Out and we were actually in the room where Rocket is and he is explaining what he’s about to do. I’m at the point where the door opens and we’re ready to leave. I wait in my wheelchair till anyone that wants to leave the room can leave the room before I head out of the room so I’m not running over anybody and I’m not causing a traffic jam and everybody that wanted to leave seemed to have left and I started to pull forward and all of a sudden from behind me this woman takes and throws her 3 kids right in front of my wheelchair and I tried to stop, but I can’t stop on a dime. It’s like a electric car, you let go of the joystick (lever) and it’s gonna roll a little bit before it stops and one of the children she put in front of me, the wheel of my wheelchair front tire rolled a little bit over his foot and she got mad at me because I hurt her child. I didn’t do anything wrong. She was trying to rush to get in front of me being very disrespectful. I had given her a chance to go. And she was in a rush to go when she could have easily waited for me to go through the door then waited behind me. She just would have been 1 person back in line. Not a big deal from that point forward going through the rest of the line. The child looked at me like he was terrified as if he was scared to death of wheelchairs and he probably will be for the rest of his life thanks to his mother.
This is just one instance. Parents do this to us on several occasions and then they turn and yell at me as if I have done something wrong when they clearly instigated the incidents. I try to keep a level head and explain myself but that just seems to enrage them more. My husband says the best thing to do is just not too engage.
There was a man who had dropped something after my daughter and I had passed him when we were being directed by a cast member to a different group for a Star Wars ride. Apparently, after we passed him, he had dropped it trying to blame it on my daughter. A cat member came up to me and asked if us if we knew what was going on on. I had no idea at first, but then when I looked and saw the man and he was still yelling using profanity, and then what I noticed was the cat members taking him and his wife somewhere else away from us. People can be jerks And try to blame others for their their own actions. I try not to get involved in what other people are doing or saying. Cast members are trained to deal with situations.
