Hurricane Milton, a powerful storm that recently swept through parts of Florida, has left many communities grappling with recovery efforts.

The hurricane caused significant disruptions across the state, including heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding. While some areas experienced severe damage, others, such as Universal Orlando Resort, were fortunate enough to escape the brunt of the storm. Thankfully, in the case of Universal Orlando Resort, the damage appears to have been minimal, and recovery efforts are already underway.

As Hurricane Milton approached Florida, Universal Orlando Resort made the decision to temporarily close its parks (Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure), CityWalk, and Halloween Horror Nights for both Wednesday and Thursday to ensure the safety of guests and team members.

This closure, while disappointing for some guests, was a necessary precaution as the region braced for the hurricane’s impact. Fortunately, reports suggest that the damage to the resort is not extensive, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the storm.

In the aftermath of the storm, one of the more reliable sources for updates on theme park conditions, the X account @bioreconstruct, conducted a survey of the damage at Universal Orlando Resort. According to their observations, the damage was relatively minimal, with no major structural issues reported at the theme park.

The quick response from Universal’s teams and the relatively minor damage suggest that the resort will be able to resume normal operations promptly.

Adding to the good news, Universal Orlando has announced that it will reopen on Friday, October 11, resuming normal operations.

Guests who have been anxiously waiting to return to the parks can look forward to a full reopening, which will include access to the theme parks, CityWalk, and the ever-popular Halloween Horror Nights event. Universal Orlando Resort shared the following statement regarding its reopening plans:

“Our hearts are with all those impacted by Hurricane Milton, and we are dedicated to helping our community recovery,” Universal Orlando Resort shared in a statement. “We are also grateful for the hard work of our Team Members during this challenging time. On Friday, Oct. 11, we look forward to welcoming back our guests as we return to our normal operation across all our theme parks, CityWalk, and Halloween Horror Nights inclusive of Early Park Admission for Universal Orlando Hotel guests, Premier Passholders, and Preferred Passholders.”
