In 2001, Disney fans were introduced to Princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo in the movie The Princess Diaries. Princess Mia was played by Anne Hathaway, who returned to reprise her role three years later. Ever since then, Hathaway has retained a special place in the hearts of Disney fans around the world.

Fans were even more thrilled when Hathaway announced that she would once again return to the Kingdom of Genovia as Queen Mia. Just the other day, Disney confirmed that The Princess Diaries 3 had a director and a lead actress.

In the early and mid-2000s, Hathaway appeared in multiple movies every year, and she was all over the big screen. She was constantly being interviewed and talking about her latest projects. She was in hits like The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Bride Wars (2009), Alice in Wonderland (2010), and many others.

However, one of her recently unearthed interviews left a sour taste in Hathaway’s mouth, and she recently reached out to the journalist to apologize for her behavior.

Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa recently went viral for an interview she did with It Ends With Us (2024) star Blake Lively back in 2016. During the interview, Flaa congratulated Lively on her “little bump”, as Lively had recently confirmed her pregnancy. Lively did not appear to take kindly to the comment, congratulating Flaa on her “little bump.”

However, Flaa was not pregnant and revealed that she was shocked and hurt by the comment, considering she is infertile and would never be able to have children of her own.

Flaa’s interview with Lively was not the only uncomfortable interview she’s had over the course of the year. She recently released footage of an interview she did with Anne Hathaway back in 2012, and the outcome was unexpected.

On her YouTube Channel, Flaawsome Talk, the journalist revealed that after she shared the footage, she actually received an apology from Ms. Hathaway.

“Yesterday, I did receive an email. It was from Anne Hathaway’s publicist, and he forwarded a message to me from Anne Hathaway. I have to say, I was pretty shocked. I had not expected her to reach out to me at all. I thought she was never gonna even see that video. But she did. And she did something pretty amazing.”

“[It was] a long email explaining to me what she was going through right then when she did this interview, and she apologized for being…giving me an awful interview basically. It was so touching to me. Just talking about it makes me almost teary eyed, ’cause I was just so grateful that she did that. And it was a very personal note. And we decided that I wouldn’t share exactly what was in the email, but I just wanted to share with you guys what she did.”

The original footage in question was taken in 2012, when Hathaway was attending a press junket for her newest film, Les Misérables. She answered questions from journalists, including Flaa, alongside co-stars Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.

Flaa had asked the actors to sing their responses — paying homage to the fact that Les Misérables was a musical. Mr. Jackman and Mr. Crowe played along and sang their answers. Hathaway, however, was not as interested in joining in on the fun.

Viewers were split on the way Hathaway acted, with some calling her rude and others saying it appeared that she was just having a bad day.

In addition to her apology, Flaa revealed that Ms. Hathaway invited her to interview the actress when her next movie comes out. Hathaway is set to star in the film Flowervale Street alongside Ewan McGregor and Maisy Stella. It is set to be released next year.
