Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort have likely noticed the changes to a certain parking lot recently, with Disney blocking walkway access to Downtown Disney. This saga has continued for several weeks, with guests documenting all of the different changes to this walkway. Disneyland has now once again beefed up security for this specific checkpoint.

The Disneyland Resort is much smaller than the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, though both still offer many different modes of transportation. The Disneyland Monorail may be the most iconic way to navigate the Disney theme parks, though Disney’s bus service continues to be the most popular.

At Disneyland, guests have several options, but because the resort’s theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, are so close together, guests have the option to walk to and from both. This extends to Downtown Disney, Disneyland’s outdoor shopping and dining center.

However, recent changes made by Disney have made walking somewhat harder and more confusing, with the resort changing security measures once again in a seemingly never-ending saga.

Guests can park their car at Disneyland’s Mickey & Friends, Pixar, or Toy Story parking lots and then walk to the theme parks and the Downtown Disney District. However, recent actions by Disney have made this noticeably harder, with guests sharing a new update on social media.

Twitter/X user DisneyScoopsGuy recently snapped a photo revealing Disney had made even more adjustments to this somewhat confusing walkway. Instead of a few trash cans or a cast member, a warning sign and multiple metal gates were placed in front of it.

I have been largely absent from the parking lot discourse, but I have to say this is starting to look like Act II of Les Mis around here.

While it’s still unknown what prompted these changes, it appears Disneyland wants to stop guests from walking through the Downtown Disney parking lot.

As mentioned before, this is far from the first time Disneyland has made changes to the way this walkway works, with the resort first blocking access several weeks ago. However, what started with a few chairs and signs quickly escalated into a full-on security checkpoint, with Disney deploying a cast member to ensure guests were following the rules.

It’s likely Disney is concerned about guests walking through a parking lot, opting to be as safe as possible. However, this walkway is reportedly only blocked part of the time.

Some guests have urged others to simply stick to the walking path Disney put in, arguing that the shortcut through the Downtown Disney lot actually does not save much time.

Have you ever used this shortcut? Do you visit Disneyland often?
