I have visited Disney world 51 times but feel not only has the value gone down but the experience itself has gone down. The day of spotless grounds helpful staff have gone by the wayside. I would not mind price increases if quality was a premium but unfortunately it is not. Where has my old Disney gone?
Got to agree with you. The quality and customer service has gone down thru the floor. Not even taking into account the old perks of things like Magical Express and Fastpass, Fastpass+. The new attractions have been built more shoddy than attractions that are 30+ years old. They’re not holding up to the daily use that the older attractions are holding up to. But I digress. Overall I’m seriously considering dumping my DVC points while I still can. As Disney sinks so will that.
Yes, the prices for everything have gone up so much at Disney – I’m not sure I will ever be able to go back. It’s so sad. I don’t see an end in sight, either. They just keep raising and raising their prices for rooms, park passes, food and then there’s things that used to be free that we now have to pay for. No more Magical Express transportation to/from the airport. No more free Fast Passes. The list goes on and on.
I think with the current economy and with Universal opening EPIC next year this is pure insanity by Disney to continue to raise prices. They need to learn to let the pricing alone for a couple of years. The continued raising of prices also brings very bad press for Disney as fans will look for other venues to spend their money. This is a very bad decision by management!
I agree. My spouse and I are DVC members, but we go to Universal because we get more for my money. Years ago through Working Advantage you were able to purchase 5 day passes through Basic pricing. Buy 3 days and get 2 free. Each pass was good for 1 venue each day. We loved it. Now, you need to mortgage your house to go to WDW. And I am noticing also less people buying annual passes because they changed the dynamics of the annual pass plus increased pricing!!!!
Disney has become outrageously expensive. Going into debt for a vacation is ridiculous. In this day & age there are far more important things to spend money on, like a place to live & food. Those things are expensive enough.
Bob Iger expresses concern BS! Dollar signs are in his eyes as well! Hasn’t done a thing to help. He’s a fraud! Many kids dreams have been squashed by Disney’s greed! Era over.
Iger’s 2023 compensation was $31.6 million. He couldn’t care less how the increases impact guests – it’s all going to the filthy rich execs and shareholders. None of these increases have improved the quality of the guest experience nor have they helped cast members salaries keep pace with rising costs.
So true…………when your a multi millionaire you forget what the rest of the people live on…………………Walt must be rolling in his grave what he has done to Disney
We are going on our last WDW trip. Plans changed when DAS changed. I will not be spending all this extra money. We are DVC and will either use our points at Universal or sell. Pass is not renewed.
Universal is Disabled friendly.
We have passes in California and love it. Just bought Magic Mountain too.
We gave up on our passes when Covid hit. Now we just can’t afford them. We miss disneyworld greatly, but, we just can’t afford it anymore. We are HUGE disneyworld fans. Thank goodness for the Disney YouTubers that we can enjoy disneyworld through them.
Unless I win free tickets on the radio which they seem to do a lot, I’m never going to see all the new stuff. And I would never pay more to go on a ride after I was already in the park. They’re insane!
We have been DVC Members since 2006 and are disappointed Disney has raised prices on just about everything. It’s a shame we have to make almost a house payment to get park tickets and dine anymore. It’s bad enough to have to get reasonable flights to get there. Almost all of the perks (i.e. Disney Express, lighting lanes) have been modified for profits. They are truly milking us! The only way we can make a difference is by raising our voices, or simply not going.
Its really sad that corporate greed has stolen the joy of going to a theme park for kids. Disney managed to run these parks with more employees and maintenance for a cheaper price before they expanded in all other media. Park profits are being used to prop up their other areas that have lost money. We have been going 50 years and don’t regret spending the money we have. However, grands will be visiting less because parents cannot afford it.
I agree the price increases have not improved anything at Disneyworld. Quality has definitely deteriorated. We are DVC owners and the increased annual dues with ticket prices increasing make it impossible to afford anymore. And not being able to get DVC reservations is another issue. Walt Disney would be not be happy at all!
Years ago I learned that the current management doesn’t want anyone in the parks that can’t spend $5000 or more per day. And the continued rise in prices bears that out.
Seems Disney is raising prices as a way to slowly edge out families with children to create an “adult” Disney vs “family” Disney. I remember when Disney offered FREE Admission on one’s Birthday with photo ID with option to purchase Annual Pass at 50%. Disney also offered Paid Admission to shop with refund if shopper Exited Disney within an hour. I used this option to purchase SIX Smoked Turkey Legs (freezes well with Press N Seal) to make Portuguese Bean Soup, Collard Greens vs using Ham Hocks. Sadly, gone are those days! Can’t afford going to Disneyland since 2008! 😭
I’m afraid they’re out of luck there since people going without kids can’t afford it anymore. It saddens me that I don’t know when or if I’ll be able to go back.
We have been coming to Disneyland each year for 30 years bringing children suffering life threating illnesses for a holiday of a life time.We are from New Zealand. We were there in August and its been the worst visit we have had it cost us $19560.00 for 14 children and 6 Medical Staff for 4 day hopper passes the lighting lanes never worked for us and Guest Relations would not help us at all we could not even get DAS passes even though these were children suffering from Cancer, Heart transplants and other issues. We use to get the Genue Wish passes but not any longer we were told the children can wait in lines. we averaged 5 rides a day. I even wrote to Bob Iger twice but did not even get a reply so much for him that says something doesn’t it. We left the park twice because the children could not stand in the heat for to long. So certainly not a magical visit So Disney how about installing the magic back into the people that visit. We were treated to Magical times with complementary entry and front of the line passes to Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studioes and Sea World that made our holiday.
Disney has expanded thru mergers. Aquasitions, and new enterprises beyond their means. So, how do the keep the company afloat — on the back of fans of the US parks. Over seas parks are still affordable if you can afford the travel. But Walt’s idea of a park the average family can spend day at are gone. The suits and bean counters have destroyed the magic. Disney is no longer loyal to their employees, performers, or fans. The almighty dollar raised its big ugly head and it appears even Iger is now just linning his pockets. Disney now priced me out after 50 years of visiting almost annually. So, Good By Disney. I had high hopes when Iger came back, but looking at the parks, prices, and service against his salary and bonuses boy was I wrong.
I read all these comments and am disgusted by many of them. How dare you criticize the price increases. How do you expect Bob Iger to continue to build his custom sail boats and live the life of a KING as he does! How dare you criticize the huge salaries that under performing upper management rape the company for! The real problem is the front line cast members those, greedy money grubbing minions living high on the hog! It will be not a cold day in hell but an absolute zero day in hell before I set in any Disney park – you know the company that continually slaps its guests in the face with any number of financial and moral issues
So true…………when your a multi millionaire you forget what the rest of the people live on…………………Walt must be rolling in his grave what he has done to Disney
My urologist urged me not to go on any rides that would turn me upside down with a kidney stone in the bottom of each kidney. And with no senior discount, I decided to just hang out in my timeshare, while my daughter’s family went into the parks. I would have walked around with them, but not at their ridiculously high prices for just walking around the park.
Disney parks were already way too expensive for most people & now they want an increase? Why? To pay for the day they had to close because of the storms? How about taking a big pay cut Iger? LOL, or ANY pay cut to the millions that you get?
People should STOP going & see if they bring the cost down.
This is really sad. The last time I went to Disney was this past June. I can’t go back now since I don’t live in Florida anymore and things get more pricey for people living out of the state. It would have been fine if ticket prices stayed at $100.00’s. I doubt that it’ll ever get back down to that price again. Plus, most of the perks are gone. Fast pass (which was free) is gone. Magic express is gone. Early morning hours (will eventually or it already is) will be available for just guests staying at deluxe resorts. We had (for lunch) 3 small egg roles and water. It costs $9.00’s for 3 small egg roles (which weren’t so good anyway). That’s a rip off. We can get 3 (pretty good quality egg roles) in out local Chinese restaurant for $4.00’s. Disney has to stop raising prices as often as it does before no one (especially middle class/working class Americans) goes to their parks anymore. The working class/middle class in the bulk of the people that go to Disney. Soon, it’ll only be upper class and celebrities that can afford Disney. I love reading all your comments, they bring me life! lol. Having said that, this has got to be the DUMBEST decision they have made lately. EPIC at Universal is going to open soon and guess where everyone will want to flock to to see what it’s like: EPIC! I’m literally looking up with my face completely straight with this news. They might want to think twice about this. If ANYTHING, they should slash prices, even if only for a season, to compete with Universal better. Personally I’m just waiting to hear what jabs Universal will trade with Disney. 🙂
If you want to visit the Disney parks, do two things:
1. Move to Orlando
2. Become a Disney employee, or
3. Make a group of Disney employees your best friends! And then convince them to share their passes with you for friends.
I did two out of three, but I refused to become a Disney cast member! But I still saved a lot of money by having a bunch of friends who were at least part-time employees. Saved me hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars!
