And yet….There they are! “Cast Members” or a better term…”Poorly paid slaves” still will not quit their jobs in disgust even though they make $15.00 per hour and are becoming homeless because of those non livable wages…….They still refuse to acknowledge they aren’t any cast member. They are poorly paid slaves afraid to get a real job in the world.
Define “real job.“ Can you be sure you have the skills and poise required to be a cast member, even for a day? Try it sometime. Then come talk to me about “real” jobs.
It is hard to live in either Orange county, and live on even $30 an hour. Rents, transportation, and food are Expensive. Try. Putting on a happy face when worrying about how to just live. Retired people and young people in school or college, are the best candidates, but Disney has trained people performing, and that does not always fit those group of folks not needing a sufficient income to live on.
Disney College Program pays 16.50. They stay in a 4 person apartment that ranges from approx $900 to $1100 that comes directly out of their paycheck. There isn’t even enough money left over for food.
I think your math is fuzzy. At $16.50 an hour, that’s quite a bit more then I make as a manager at the largest marine parts retailer in America, that leaves them just over $2,000 after taxes. I wounder how many of them voted for the party ( state and federal ) that keeps raising taxes and promises to give them things for free, and then doesn’t. Like Kamala said “it’s Bidennomic’s and It’s a good thing “.
Suck it up buttercups. No one is forcing you to stay working there. I personally work for a Marine parts store, it’s an international company with hundreds of stores and started on the West coast in California. I’ve been with the company for 20+ years and I am a manager. My pay is $15.00 an hour, and no commissions. The only reason I stay is I enjoy most of the people I work with and the customers.
Did I say I wanted to? Go back to reading and comprehension class.
But in reality if you want a wage that will pay for a house, car, support a family, an annual vacation and all the taxes and monthly bills in a nice area over orange country you’ll have to make about $175,000 a year.
Just imagine how much a two day vacation at the park would be them. Most “cast members ” Jobe are not ment to be career jobs.
I love DISNEY! I think the cast members are great! The guests on the other hand, watch it or you’ll be run over. The kindness just isn’t there. But that’s also our world.
Disney CM’s should get paid more, simply for putting up with the “Karens” and “Kevins” that vacation there. However, the greed that is Disney, will only pass the increases on to its guests, which in turn, will keep people from vacationing there due to the higher costs.
Find that fine line Disney, before it’s really too late!
I know a Cast Member that is SCHEDULED for 50 hours per week has to work through lunch most days and adds 2 hours travel time and gets paid for 40 hours weekly.
If they work more than 40 hours a week as an hourly employee they get paid overtime. Disney follows the federal laws. If they are a salaried worker, you get a base pay no matter how many hours you work. I worked there for 25 years.
They overwork castmembers and that includes the k9 security dogs who might never retire. They die or get put down before they can ever feel bedding or a chouch

Bravo Aunt Polly.

Try being a law enforcement officer for under $40k a year. That’s a real job.

Then don’t complain when you are at the parks, because then cast won’t have to deal with your attitude.
M.j.
Did I complain? Quit jumping to conclusions.

Talk about a narcissistic clown. Just because you want to work below poverty wages doesn’t means others can.

“Walt Disney World cast members won a raise, but it came at a time when inflation made their raise mute.”
Not “mute” It’s ‘moot,’ ya dinglefairies.
