I’m not sure what to tell people who couldn’t see that he was doomed by the narrative quite some time ago. I’m hurt by his death, I loved him, I miss him. His throughline was always pure Greek tragedy, though. Mistakes made of good intentions. Love NOT conquering all, actually. He didn’t deserve to die, he deserved to answer to the Council and the Republic for his crimes. But this isn’t that story, it’s him being doomed as the last tie the main character has to her old life. Breaking Bad in space with a dash of dark gothic romance. It’s reckoning with the fact that evil is sexy sometimes, actually, (but they’re still the bad guys) and no institution is perfect. I worry for Qimir because he and Sol are narrative mirrors for each other in SO many ways. It takes a brave storyteller to kill their darlings this way. If we get a season 2, it’s gonna be more Sith heavy, and I am here for that ride.
