An iconic part of the Universal Orlando Resort remains untouched and abandoned.

The Universal Orlando Resort in Florida is notorious for providing guests with some of the country’s most innovative and thrilling attractions. Newer additions like Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure consistently rank as some of the best-reviewed theme park rides globally, with several more exciting experiences on the way.
However, as they say, “Out with the old, in with the new,” and Universal Orlando Resort has certainly discarded several older rides and attractions, most notably Poseidon’s Fury.
Universal Abandons Poseidon’s Fury in Florida

Poseidon’s Fury permanently closed on May 9, 2023, marking the end of an era for Universal’s Islands of Adventure park. The unique attraction first opened in 1999 and became a fan-favorite among guests, taking them through a mythical undersea temple filled with dazzling special effects.
Poseidon’s Fury welcomed guests one final time on May 8, 2023, before shutting its doors forever. However, despite Universal teasing that exciting things would replace the former attraction, Poseidon’s Fury remains closed and abandoned.
Twitter/X user Orlando Amusement shared a few images of the abandoned attraction, noting how long it had been since Poseidon’s Fury permanently closed.

Most of the Lost Continent area where Poseidon’s Fury was located has also remained untouched, and Universal has not yet released any official plans for the abandoned attraction.
However, as Universal continues to make progress on its massive new Epic Universe expansion, guests are likely to hear details regarding Poseidon’s Fury soon.
For those who may not know, Universal Orlando is currently constructing a third theme park called Epic Universe. This massive new park will feature dozens of new rides, attractions, shows, and other activities for guests to enjoy.
Several world-famous brands and franchises, like Super Mario, Nintendo, and Harry Potter, will anchor Epic Universe.
