Great article, one thing though, and to be fair, The Acolyte isnt being scored low only because of review bombing to review bomb out of spite. One action scene does not a series save. It’s a horrendously acted show, the only saving characters are Sol and Indara. Following Star Wars since the age of 4 in ’77. Watching what Disneys’ done to the franchise is heartbreaking. Never been considered a “toxic” fan, by any means, but have to be vocal about where Star Wars is headed and its Thelma and Louise level over a cliff.

I fully agree with you!!! To save the Star Wars franchise Disney should follow the books that George Lucas authorized with their respective time lines. Each book was like watching a full length Star Wars movie and could easily gross over a billion dollars each not even counting all the merchandising dollars they would make as well!!!

      1. Jeff

george let the books be written but they were never canon to him nor did he like anything in them except the money generated for more ILM advancements.. so if you think George authorized those the way you think you do ,,, then you should realize part of the disney deal was to move all that stuff out of canon at HIS request

I want to see more television shows and movies set up in the High Republic.

I have lost interest in the Old Republic and New Republic.

I will watch Star wars shows that are made for adults.

Thomas Hitchen must be either pandering to the woke alphabet folks or is on the Disney payroll… there’s no doubt about that.

  3. Junior Samples

Trying to name call fans “anti-woke” as a disparaging remark is simply pandering.

There is a reason Disney’s content is tanking.

It’s not what the fans want to watch

    1. Exactly right

      1. Eddy

Acolyte isn’t that bad if you ignore the woke/anti-woke rhetoric. Though the writing is still lacking somewhat lol.

    2. Bob

EXACTLY!!! Do a good series and fans will watch it!

      1. Aaron

I personally don’t mind seeing diverse characters, the universe by nature would have a bit of everything after all. The Acolyte is tanking because it is terrible. B grade acting would be too generous. Somehow they have managed to make the sets feel.. well like sets, not that you are watching a galaxy far far far away. And the story line is simplistic and boring. I wish it was better.

I think people look way too deep into things instead of simply enjoying something. I like the Acolyte. Think whatever you want, everyone loves to complain about everything. You guy’s make a better show if you hate it so much.

    1. Mike

How do you advise people make a better show? Most people don’t have a spare 400 million laying around.

  5. Thomas

    Ah, yes, of course!

The series itself is a victim too! A victim of “review bombing”. A victim of white privilege & racism. A victim of toxic masculinity. A victim of homophobia. A victim of the alt-Right. A victim of anti-woke mentality/rhetoric. Yup, makes sense to me. I mean, that is how it works… at least that’s what we’ve been told for years and years and years – ‘Everyone’s a victim!’
Well, that is as long as you identify as a “Progressive”, Democrat, Lefty, “Woke” etc.

I’m pretty sure that if you’re not on the Left then that automatically means that you’re NOT a victim but rather a victimizer, right?

I have been in love with the Star Wars Universe since I was 10 years old in 1977. When I first saw “A New Hope” on the big screen I was hooked. I love most of the shows and movies, and cannot understand why so many people are being so hateful. Yes I would have done a few things differently, but all in all I enjoy them all. Unless there is something just terrible stop your belly aching, sit back and be entertained or write your own script.

    1. Mike

100% this. Any Star wars is always better than no Star Wars. All of your “anti- woke” b.s. rhetoric won’t get you anywhere, but possibly killing the franchise entirely. If you are unhappy, I suggest a more subtle, less blatantly political approach, because in the end it is all about money, not political idealogy.

      1. BG

If it were all about money…..the Mouse House would have enough sense to STOP politicizing the IP……so….you are wrong….there is something much more sinister at play….profits be damned.

    2. I’m with you on this. Things could be done differently and maybe some of them will but it’s still enjoyable to watch and my kids seem to enjoy them just as much as I do and the are not 8 and 3 so no matter what Star Wars is still living on in 2024 so there is something special about that when it’s all said and done. Just wish all of the hate and trying to separate the worlds people would stop but guess that’s wishful thinking as well lol

  7. The acolyte sucks. Mando and boba fett I liked except the lizzo jack black episode sucked. At least I can skip over it when I see it again the other Disney star wars series aren’t really worth mentioning

  8. Kendal Bennett

I lov the Acolyte!! I hope it continues!!!

  9. Greg

    Love the acolyte!!!!!

It lacks any sort of merit in almost the entire production.. poorly written characters who have confused motivations when they really shouldnt among many other things. The plotting is bizarre, with thin episodes stretched out to fit the run time, laughable expository dialogue and no understanding of how characters move through the world theyve built. Its 17 rooms, not a galaxy. Force powers are inconsistent and contrived materials to get the villain through a terribly choreographed sequence. Oh and they kill the best character off-screen, the easiest slam dunk and they were like “nah, not in our hilariously ballooned budget”. The writer of this article would rather hide behind the easy talking points rather than do their job and write something original and engaging… kinda like the production of the Acolyte. Funny how that goes.

To be honest, I was really looking forward to the Acolyte series. To see a series from the Dark Side point of view seemed appealing. However, when I finally saw it I was disappointed. There just wasn’t enough substance to to the series. It lacked internal conflict and depth to pull you into the story. So it’s a ho-hum for me.

    1. Sarah J

Who cares if it’s “woke” or whatever they are saying. The dialogue is so cringe, the acting is flat and the scenes are so dark half the time you can’t see what’s happening. Simple tweaks would have made this a really fun show, as it is, it’s lackluster and just….not worth it. “Shut your brain off and enjoy” is probably the stupidest thing to say about any show.

  12. Andrew Powney

I wish people would stop analysing and just enjoy having more Star Wars content. There are many of us who like the shows.

  13. Kev

I love how if you dislike the show, it’s automatically a toxic point if viewing stopping me from enjoying the show. Not because its a poorly scripted show, mainly full of wooden acting

  14. I love all the Star Wars shows live action and animated. I just don’t like having to wait all the time for the next episode of any of them. I’m glad they’re coming out in a timeline way this way we (I) can keep up with all the different storylines.

Really, “thanks to review bombing”? No, thanks to trashy writing, story inconsistencies, and a woke agenda. Place your blame where it belongs… on yourselves.

  16. Noneya

Before society lost its damm mind, “review Bombing” was known as ‘telling the truth’. Fact is, 1% of woke nummnutz don’t like that 99% of actual non crazies dislike this show! With good reason, it’s terrible. Want an example? That “Power of” song. What the actual f* was that? The Out of Touch look at this in post and then signed off on it!
Bob. Bro. Time to wake up clean house.

the acolyte was not review bombed. leslye headland needs to burned at the stake. what a faggot.

  18. It was obvious from her first comments that Mrs. Headland was not crafting a show to be enjoyed by all. She has stated it was her goal all along to utilize the Acolyte as a vehicle to push her agendas. We’ve seen it so far from homosexual innuendo to the use of identity political pronoun usage. Her casting is obviously agenda driven and it’s an open joke about it being “the gayest star wars”. Even lead actress’ comments about her goal was to make straight white men cry shows their “true colors”.
Like it or not, the Star Wars base fandom is predominantly straight and male. This series was not made for them and now that it is tanking in the ratings Headland is lashing out at the fandom she held in contempt during its creation. It’s somehow our fault for not wanting to watch something that wasn’t made for us.
If Disney wants to turn things around they need to quit pushing political agendas and get back to great story telling. The Acolyte isn’t it. I found it boring for the most part. The writing is horrendous and the acting is mediocre at best. I’m sure it will be praised by critics as bold and cutting edge solely on the basis of its political leaning. Regular people, who make up the fan base, don’t want to watch progressive politics reskinned as Star Wars or anything else. We simply won’t watch.

I’m very happy for any and all new/ continuing episodes !
    Everything has been totally amazing!

It was NOT review bombed. Ir did however get a lot of negative review in a very short space of time and that was down to bad writing bad content and bad directing and storytelling. Please get your facts correct.
