Disneyland opened in July of 1955, with the resort recently celebrating its 69th birthday. To celebrate this milestone, the resort offered Anaheim residents special tickets priced at $69.

Since its original opening day, the Disneyland Resort has seen dozens of incredible upgrades and expansions, all of which have worked together to create one of the world’s most popular and feature-rich vacation destinations.

From Disneyland Park to Disney California Adventure, the “adventure” never truly ends during a day, night, weekend, or week-long trip to Disneyland. This extends to Disneyland’s Downtown Disney shopping and dining area, which is filled to the brim with globally recognized stores and eateries that allow guests to relax and unwind after a long day at the theme parks.

However, Downtown Disney recently lost a longtime feature, with the complete demolition of an area starting this week.

In the latest Downtown Disney update, the House of Blues fountain is currently being demolished and removed from the shopping and dining district.

This was reported by DisneyScoopGuy on Twitter/X, who shared video footage of the fountain being demolished behind tarps.

Unfortunately we have discovered which fountain is being removed from Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and it’s the House of Blues Fountain, my second favorite DTD fountain. I saw a guy use the water from this fountain less than a month ago to style his hair (gross) but it was seriously one of the prettier fountains in Downtown Disney and I’m gonna miss it.

Twitter/X user ArchivistJason shared a closer look at the destruction, confirming that the fountain was, in fact, being permanently removed.

What Disneyland plans to do with this is unclear, though Downtown Disney has seen several significant upgrades in recent months. Earlier this year, a new security entrance opened as part of a new plaza at Downtown Disney.

The new plaza welcomes guests entering the shopping and dining district from the Simba parking area and other locations like the Pixar Place and Disneyland Hotels. The old Disneyland Hotel security entrance has since closed, and this new area is the dedicated security entrance for guests.

Guests looking to shop and eat at Walt Disney World are in luck, as the resort features its own hub called Disney Springs. This massive outdoor shopping mall features a wide range of food, drinks, snacks, stores, and shows for guests to explore and is open until 11 p.m. daily.
