Disney World Cutting Another Free Theme Park Perk After 50+ Years

Comments for Disney World Cutting Another Free Theme Park Perk After 50+ Years

A monorail train travels along an elevated track at dusk, reminiscent of Disney World. The sky features a warm glow near the horizon with scattered clouds, transitioning to a deep blue as it moves upward. Below, streetlights and an empty parking area can be seen with some foliage in the background.

Get rid of any traces of Walt. And yet people still blindly support Iger, the board and the rest of the upper management as they burn the place down…..

    1. Jade VR

It’s good to see that there are people still keeping the delusional community alive.
      Keep those dreams…

      1. Sorry to say, but the reason Walt started Disneyland has been forgotten by The CEO, CFO, THE president of parks and shareholders. Now you must buy an overpriced entry ticket, only to have to pay to ride once inside or stand in line for hours. And don’t get thirsty because a 20oz coke will cost you more than a 12 pak at Walmart. Reheated burgers $15 a pop. I’ve been going to Disneyland for over 50 years , but no more .Disney has gotten to big and the powers to be are trying to cover their financial failures on the ba KS of the theme park guests.

    2. Mary

      It’s so sad.

    3. Will

Right you are! The Disney family sold their stock a long time ago. The company has a management team that does not care about the public or the Disney legacy.
Closing the Shooting Gallery is just another nail in Walt’s coffin.
Having Frontierland without guns being part of the culture is like a declaration of war against rural America. That is another war the company cannot afford, and is another attempt by politically correct hacks to “clean up” American history.
NOTE: In my part of America we still put Bambi and Thumper’s relatives in the fridge to feed OUR families every year.

    4. Timothy

Disney World began slowly leaving Florida as DeSantis began his war on Disney. With Disney moving some projects to Georgia. As Florida’s Governor DeSantis continued to display attributes of Hitler: Disney should pick everything up & tell DeSantis to go to He_l. DeSantis is destroying more freedoms everyday, he should not be in Office because of his run of President!

    5. Amanda

Yeah cause modern day kids watch the new western on TV. Play with cap guns and want a racoon skin cap. That shooting gallery is always empty. I use it as a place to get shade and water.

    6. Jim

The Mouse apparently never knows when his greed for extracting more cash from their guests. Hopefully there will be a backlash that could result in his downfall! The outrageous charges have become overwhelming.

  2. Douglas

Of course we wouldn’t want kids handling fake rifles, but pride absolutely Infiltrated? Fine.

    1. Thomas

“Disney attempts to be politically neutral”… now, that’s funny.

      1. Michael

        My thought exactly!!!!

  3. Kevin

Guns don’t kill, people do the killing. There is nothing wrong with kids practicing shooting skills in a safe environment like that, my kids have been shooting real guns, with proper adult supervision for years. You left wing nut jobs Crack me up!! Disney is also far from being political neutral. Bet they have gay pride flags flying all over the parks. Disney, going away from Walt Disney’s vision is going to be what kills the company.

  4. James

It’s too bad Disney upsets the American parks but do there best for the Asian and French parks.

    1. Bill

How can you have a Frontierland without a gun culture?!
Political hacks again attempt to sterilize American history. Instead of declaring war on rural America the company board members should drink bad Kool Aid.
No doubt part of the intent was to charge families for bathroom breaks.
Just for the record, in my part of America, Northern
Rural California, our high schools offered gunsmithing as an optional class and every year Bami and Thumper’s relatives go into the freezer to feed OUR
      families!

  5. Angela

The shooting arcade was never free for a far back as I can remember and that’s a long time. As a DVC member I look forward to a member lounge!!

    1. Joe Angryman

It was absolutely always free. You are remembering incorrectly.

      1. Sven

It wasn’t always free. In fact, in the olden days it was a B ticket attraction, or it was $0.25 (initially) when tickets books were phased out.

The rifles initially shot lead pellets, and then after OSHA came through and measured lead levels, they were replaced by electronic rifles with infrared lasers.

The free shooting at the arcade was not around forever.

However, you might be remembering the rifles at the Tom Sawyer Island Fort Wilderness (long since removed by do-gooders) those were always free, but those were just “pretend” rifles that didn’t shoot.

        1. Steve

Don’t get rid of all free stuff!! I come in ride the monorail, busses, etc. Visit the hotels. Have a bite to eat. My kids think they have been to Disney World!! And I only spent a few $$ on food!!

        2. Jade VR

Thank you for being another verification on this. Too many younger generations have no clue about what it was first like, and then claim how everyone is wrong because they see it only the way it is now.

      2. Jade VR

I do recall a time when you had to give a “ticket” for the shooting arcade. Back when ALL attractions required you purchase a ticket book, and give a certain ticket (A – E) for the attractions. I remember that this “attraction” was part of that for a good while back in the days. Yes, I am THAT old that I remember these things. So just because you.might believe someone wrong, don’t go thinking you’re absolutely right.

    2. Chris B

A DVC lounge where all you DVC members can remove the sticks out of your asses for a while.

  6. Donna

Everyday they ruin it more!!! I’ve been saving up to go and relive all the childhood memories but am thinking not now. Splash mountain?!? Wtf!!!

    1. Jade VR

That’s just part of the part of the problem these days. Right what you said… “Relive childhood memories.”
That’s all well and good to remember these times, but the fact that times change, different generations don’t find the same things we thought were the greatest in the same way, and updated attractions are inevitable.
Things cannot stay the same way forever, otherwise it becomes outdated and stale. I have fond memories of times at Disneyland as a child, but they are just that now. Childhood memories. And that’s ok, because I can tell the newer generations about my times there, and now go and make new memories. We can’t hold on and expect everything to always remain. That’s unrealistic. But try and embrace the changes, and hope we can create more fond memories.

  7. Joe Angryman

You have no place in modern Disney parks.

And Cosmic Rays has the worst food in all of Disney.

    1. Jade VR

What does that have to do with this story or comment section exactly?

  8. Jen

At this rate, by 2030 all.of the WDW parks will only be open to DVC members. That’s how they want it.

  9. Kerri

What a shock, the CEO of Disney wants to put more money in their pockets than entertain tourists at their parks. I hope Walt starts to haunt all them.

  10. Sullivan

    Won’t be missed

    1. DJ

Agree…boring …hadn’t bothered with it in years

      1. Andrew

Never saw a lot of people at it. Never was a big draw for most people. Probably most people don’t know where to find it. Change it. Times change, attractions change. It will be ok.

    2. Jade VR

Also in agreement. It’s just not that big a deal, to be honest. And these people whining about how it’s going to ruin everything Disney, maybe they need to get themselves checked out mentally. Change happens, things are not going to remain the same FOREVER. If people haven’t understood that yet, then they need to get off their phones, computers, iPads, etc, and take a good hard look at the world around them.

      1. You have to use your phone or tablet to negotiate the park these days. Why do you think everyone is moving around head down eyes stuck to their phones.

  11. Bob

Disney’s woke direction and indifference to main stream America will be its undoing. There’s a big beautiful country to explore where money grabbing executives don’t exist. Disney’s time has passed.

    1. Jade VR

I would tend to agree, to a point. However, a few eyes, in the flock of millions of others, isn’t going to be the end of such things.
I seriously doubt that Disney’s time is close to over, because they’re removing an old shooting gallery.

      1. No, Jade VR your right the loss of the shooting arcade won’t close the park . But it is indicative of the spiral down. Loss one attraction and replace it with a private loung. QUIT doing shows in DL & CAP. Then limit access due to crowding. And on and on. Some where there will be a breaking point or a Revival. WDW is already seeing notable drops in attedance.

  12. I remember paying a quarter

  13. I won’t miss the shooting gallery because I’m done with the woke mouse.

  14. Shame on all CEOs at Walt disney world and Disneyland. If Walt Disney was alive, he would fire each and everyone one of you. Money hungry ,your millionaires off the public, your all pirates and theifes

I am a die hard fan for 60 years, you keep raising
prices up up and up, where families go in dedt because of you.

Disney open the park for everyone to enjoy to be a family and the prices were fair and reasonable .
There is no more magic at the park and it not the happiest place on earth no more.
Until you change, lower the prices..

Florida resident get in for 50 per day
Let’s the guest outside florida get in for the same price.
Your number will double and your quota will skyrocket every quarter

  15. Janice

Iger is removing all traces of Walt’s magic because he thinks he’ll be politically correct and end up running for some political office which is a real joke.
It’s too bad because in his early years Eiger was excellent.
Now he is a disgrace to the Disney name.
Amazing how you can go to the Japanese or French Disney and enjoy these wonderful American things but not here in America!!
Just like the Nazis in world war II erasing all signs of individuality!!
We should have known when they didn’t support dip where in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. They showed them how much they cared about the American values and thankfully now they’re paying for it

  16. Tamie

It is getting ridiculous how many things are being lost to DVC! Whether it’s an attraction, restaurant or lodging(ie the Cabins at Ft Wilderness). How many lounges does DVC need? It really upset me when the Cabins were made DVC. Our family loved the set up, where in they were located, and that they were price as a Moderate resort( not now that they are DVC , they are Deluxe). At this rate it won’t be long before you will need to be DVC just to enter the parks…

  17. Jade VR

I doubt that this is going to be a make or break factor of Disney parks. And if it is,and forces you to not want to go there anymore, then maybe that’s for the best. You’re probably safer away from society.

  18. Jade VR

Love all the comments saying “I’m DONE with Disney!” “Disney is trash now!” Yet, these are the same people on every story here, that keep coming back to post comment after comment. If you all dislike Disney and are done with it, then why do you keep coming back to read about Disney? Hmm.. sus. Obviously, you’re fooling yourself in saying all these things, because early you’re not done with the house of mouse.

    1. You the one dillusinal and you probably don’t remember the parks in the 60s and 70s. When you could go to the park (if you lived close) several times a week. Even in the last 20 years price have risen over 500%. I’m sure your income hasn’t done that. There is a breaking point and things are moving in that direction at this time. Look at their $$ & attendance quarterlies.

      1. Jade VR

Not sure of whom you’re calling the delusional one here, but I certainly hope it’s not me, as I do remember the parks back in the 70s and used to live 2 hours from Disneyland, plus was an annual pass holder, so went whenever I wished. I don’t know as I live hundreds of miles from any Disney parks, but if I wished to, I could still do so. Not as frequently, but I can afford a trip or two.

        1. Jade VR

God, could you.pleas do everyone here a favor and shut up already steve-o? Your endless child rabble is getting old and tired just like you. It’s barely worth a chuckle anymore. It’s just pathetic

    2. Tom

      Boycott Disney overpriced

      1. Jade VR

Then boycott your grocery store, you local gas stations, your hospitals and dental offices, your insurance company, your utilities, your health insurance, cell phone and internet services. Your cable provider. The list goes on. Go ahead, boycott as you will, because it’s all going up. You think that’s going to change it? Doubtful.

  19. John Smegg

I just wish this site had some ads and pop-ups. What a POS site.

  20. Michael

Disney “attempting to be politically neutral” …. now THATS the funniest thing I’ve heard in a LONG time!!!!! 🤣

  21. Cindy

Pretty soon they going to change the name too. I hate how they have totally going mass commercial instead stay true to idea why Disney opened the park in the first place. Pretty soon only the 1% will be only ones going because they will be only ones able to afford it.

  22. Cindy

The park does need only members lounge to separate the 1% from the American families. If the parks want build lounges they should be open everyone not for only a special group. It’s just so sad for me to see all downhill changes when I’ve going for over 40 forty years and seeing 3 out 4 parks on grand opening days.

  23. Tina

Florida resident here. Going tomorrow. Not $50. $174. They don’t give discounts like they used to.

  24. Angel

That has been pretty much closed for well over 18 years. Why even mention it now? The time for dispute was almost 2 decades ago..

  25. Irish

    “Noble decision”.. “Politically neutral”…
This page is sincerely a great page for jokes and getting into the minds of a delusional leftist.
Disney is still making money, but they are losing so much they could have made it is insane.

  26. Scott

Stopped going to Disney years ago ! When they started letting faggots in ! Gay is not a life style it’s a mental illness Can’t wait until election day to get all the woke joke out of office and undo all the 🐂💩laws to protect the faggots! Never thought I would say this but the Muslims got this one right They behead them in public square and depending on the country they will also put the parents to death as they well should for raising a faggot mental case.every time a faggot dies one less child cries! Break the cycle and kill them all !

    1. Jade VR

Scott. This is hardly.the place to go on this type of rant and yo.are only showing your ignorance at acting in this manner. How about trying to at least stick to what SHOULD be getting discussed here, and not acting like a homophobic twatwaffle?

    2. Jade VR

Take this ignorant ranting which has nothing to do with the topic to somewhere that people care and might give a flying rat’s tail about what you think about this subject or why you refuse to go due to these reasons.

  27. Gene

Totally ridiculousness if the reason is not to let children hold a gun. My generation and the one before me held guns, played in dirt and drank water from a garden hose. Parents today make their kids too timid and sensative to where they can’t live in the real world so they want to change things to fit their lives. The world is not Rainbows and lollipops and they will grow up unable to handle real life situations

  28. Jade VR

Ok, in this comment section, and just about every other one, I’m seeing the same pattern arising, and the same arguments becoming more and more heated, and often disrespectful.
This pattern is in regards to rising prices at Disney, too much for this or that, prices not being what they used to be, etc etc…
To be perfectly fair here, and I am in no way defending the rising costs. I agree that it’s gone way over what I find reasonable. HOWEVER, I do find some logic in the madness, something that we have ALL overlooked. And that is the rising prices everywhere. Not just Disney, but at your local grocery stores, gas stations, medical services, home services, so on and so on. It appears, from viewing many of these comments, that many people are not very familiar with how rising costs of running a business works.

Disney might be a magical place, but at what cost is this magic obtained and kept going? If you’re one of these types that think Tinkerbell just comes and sprinkles pixie dust to keep things running, time to.learn the truth.

While we’d all like to think Disney is an endless flow of funds to keep us all entertained, it IS a business. And anyone that’s run a business knows the woes that come with it. Now imagine having to run that business, but only on a massively larger scale. It doesn’t just magically have electricity, water, phones and Internet access, boundless computer and network access, and food product fees. These may be highly discounted due to the nature of the business, but they’re used more than an average business, each day, every day…
To maintaining attractions, to cleaning crews. Artists and painters, to imagineers. Cast member pay, business fees, utility bills, taxes, food fees… Not to mention the demand, by the public, for bigger, better,.and more technology advanced attractions. These ride don’t just suddenly or magically appear. It costs to create a concept, then the preparation, building the ride mechanics and design aspects, painting the sets. It all costs major dollars. Where do you all think these dollars come from? Yes, it sucks to be charged so much, but if Disney is to continue to bring us more and more and more, per demand, they need to have the funding, plus be able to investe into the company as a whole, and be able to maintain pay for their own lives and all the cast members.

We often forget and take things like this for granted. I can nearly 99% guarantee you, they’re not sitting back and just going, “raise the price, because we WANT to!” Again, it sucks that most my not be able to go due to high costs, but before blaming completely, do take into consideration Disney’s standpoint.
