We just returned from Disney after a great one week trip with our granddaughter and great granddaughter. Our granddaughter is a single Mom with an autistic ADHD daughter. She would not have been able to afford the Disney tickets, let alone the Lightning Lane if we hadn’t treated them to the experience. We stayed at our timeshare off-site and rented a car for the week. We wanted them to experience all the great rides and adventures so we purchased Lightning Lane and individual Lightning Lane tickets. It cost us over $300. We are retired and by no means wealthy but we were willing to spend extra to give our girls a fantastic experience. We didn’t mind getting up at 7:00 to make our best selection. All the best rides were gone before mid-day.

We liked the free advance Fast Pass system because we do like to plan ahead. The new Lightning Lane advance reservation system may work for some people and not for others. I feel bad for the people who want to experience Disney but can only afford the basic ticket. They will end up spending hours on line and getting on just a few rides.

There is more on other issues at Disney I could mention, but I’ll save those for another time.

Glad you and your family had a great time! That being said, no one is forcing people to pay to have their wait time shortened, are they? If you choose to not pay for a quicker experience then do what millions and millions have done for decades and wait in line. How much is your time worth, I can only answer that for myself and each person has to do the same. Don’t complain that you have do what the standard is, which is waiting in a line, if you don’t want to use the mechanism they provide to make your experience go faster.

What a crappy attitude. If it was about waiting in a standard line, that would be one thing. But it’s not. It’s about an extended wait after people who pay to cut the line go before them. Some people have to save up just to take their family to Disney.

You’re not too bright are you. Your complaint is people have to save to do something they want like it’s a bad thing? Well no S*%t, that’s what most of us do that don’t expect a handout. If I want to save so I can afford to not spend hours in line like we did when we were kids then that’s what I’m going to do. I bet you’re the kind of person that expects everything to be handed to you aren’t you.

To me, it is a shame that Disney feels it has to charge people to ride their rides (or wait for hours in a line with little kids in the heat). Their Fastpass system worked just fine for customers, but not for Disney who needed to generate income (more than the extra money folks pay to stay at one of their resorts). Deciding to capitalize on riding the rides was above and beyond, especially when you consider how much tickets cost. They’ve become quite greedy.
