It’s interesting that we talk all about how Disney+ was this incredible failure, wasted money. In the short term, they did give away pearls to cheap buffet platform. I think they cemented brand loyalty in the digital space at a time when Netflix appeared to be indomitable leader in streaming. As they slowly rate hike, and use add-on costs (remember Mulan), I think the groove will be found. Well thing, oh now they know how to things efficiently, but really it was all one giant introductory offer to get people in the door. And, it kept Disney stock afloat while COVID was hitting on all angles of the business.

So long as down the line we still get big releases on Disney plus I see no reason why allowing movies to have their cinema period could have any negative effect on the consumer, other platforms such as Netflix and Amazon do this already. Alternatively retaining the premiers but having watching them cost the equivalent of a cinema ticket on a rental basis could work too alongside a cinema release, offering revenue from movie goers and from those that prefer at home options, both variants would be similarly priced and both would have to pay more than once for repeat views until the cinema release window ends and dvd releases begin, then it would after a slight delay arrive on the platform as normal.

Now that people are going back into movie theaters, I think Pixar and Disney are doing the right thing. My children and their friends are in their 30s and 40s and they’ve been going into theaters again since summer of 2022 to see new releases.

I don’t think Pixar is a sinking ship but that our expectations have gotten way too high! People don’t seem to enjoy the movies and TV shows for what they are and the story they tell. We have too many internet trolls analyzing every frame of the movie and pointing out every minor mistake from colors to movement of the character. This we see in many facet of Life. Remember back in the 50’s we had westerns, in the 60’s and 70’s we had war flicks. Then the 80’s gave us heavy duty action flicks, and so on. Try to enjoy the movie for what it is and don’t be muddled by the trolls and critics that cr** on every movie or show that come down the pipe. I personally don’t like Bob Iger “Woke” machine but thankfully we still get pretty decent movies. I personally still enjoy a good western now and then. I am also still waiting for the announcement of Elemental 2! anybody at Pixar listening!
