Why? Someone can’t be excited about something, .maybe because you’re not? If you’re aim is to sit here and tell commenters something like that, perhaps you need take your own advice. Give that a thought, you might learn something.
Song of the South was a hit for Disney both when released and earned James Baskett an acadamy award and as an african american the first to earn this prestigious honor. The film was re-released again in 1984 to once again a hit at the box office. The film was never a problem so not sure why it needed to be shelved.
Teresa – does it matter what ethnicity he is? Do you even know the origins of Uncle Remus/B’rer Rabbit? Stories passed down thru generations of slaves. These stories were highly regarded. James Baskett’s performance was wonderful. It amazes me how people who’ve never seen the movie can comment ‘
– have you seen it?
If the whole theme of this ride is supposed to be about finding a special ingredient for a party, why didn’t they just retheme “Living With the Land” and guests could get out of the boats and actually look for the ingredients?
I don’t mind change and no one is racist except real racism which is 1% of the population. Give Tiana her due diligence but why take down an icon.? Build an entire land dedicated to the movie, that would be awesome but a lot of people know what’s going on… Disney appeased the woke audience and got rid of a timeless classic. Add to that …. A bayou in the desert 🏜️…. Very obvious what the intentions were. Anyway I still love Disney, Walt Disney without him none of this would exist. He was a KKK Republican too, lol… Idiots that think when people say woke, they tell them to join klan rallies. Brainwashed society. Love you all.
Disney has removed and re-themed plenty of attractions. Mr. Toads Wild Ride, Maelstrom is now Frozen, and Test Track has been re-themed numerous times. Those angry about the change are coming from a position of ignorance. Just you saw no problem with Song of the South and disgraceful origins everybody who are offended should just shut up. At it’s core that mentality is the origins of the racism you claim doesn’t exist. You can’t dismiss how people that disagree with you feel. That movie and it’s origins was always offensive to black people, you were just insulated from hearing the truth. Then you spark off with your outrage so loud that you still won’t hear it. The fact that it was changed means that enough people were upset with it that Disney finally spent millions to rectify an offense that most were tone to hear was offensive. If you are not racist then stop thinking that just because Caucasians are okay with something and refused to hear our outrage for decades that it should just continue to be offensive to us because you like it.
To “you” it might be all crap, and Disney is dead, but sorry to tell you… You’re not the entire fandom nor voice of Disney. Hate all you want, but I doubt you being upset is going to .ake a dent in anything.
Change is going to happen . Sorry if you dislike it, but that’s the world for you. Have a “magical” day!

Basket was the first AA man to win the award, but Hattie McDaniel was the first AA to win the award overall.
