  1. Good for our governor great idea for our residents of Florida.

It is about time. The state of KY has free admission to it’s state parks year round. I have given up on going to FL parks on any weekend.

Come to NC , we have beautful State Parks that are free, we were very surprised Fl charges entrance fees.

      1. walt

yeah cause we pay no state income tax – the people WHO USE THE PARK should pay for it not those that don’t

    2. danielle

These states that have free admission to their parks also have a state income tax, which Florida does not. So instead we charge people who actually use the parks to pay for their upkeep. Personally I prefer that because if I don’t go to a state park in a year I would rather not have to pay for it.

Governor DeathSantis is constantly at odds with his constituents. Another personal vendetta. Can’t wait to see him get out of office. It won’t be soon enough.

      You said !!

        You said it!!

And you said it twice Mary! So clever.

Good for Florida residents whose Annual Pass to theme parks probably blocks out holiday weekends anyway.

But no one travels to Florida to go to State parks.

Theme parks and golf are the economy of Florida.

Governor DeSantis should be more supportive of the mouse, not trying to destroy a business.

It is totally scary to me how vindictive this man is. Instead of addressing the real concerns of Florida such as home owners insurance, etc. He continues to attack the Mouse House. It is because of the theme parks and attractions that Florida has, we do not have a State tax but keep it up and that will change also.

Ron DeSantis is far and away, an amazing Governor. He is moving up and will excel whatever he does.
If you think he doesn’t have the issue of home owner’s insurance at the top of his agenda daily, you are either misinformed or uninformed. Five new companies have applied in Florida. We should start to see some relief there.

Hope so because our just doubled

No only with the left fringe

    3. danielle

Hell yeah! I would love to see that man done with political office.

De Santis is the best Governor FL ever had!

  5. Few people can afford the Disney experience. Through lifting the fees, be it only one day, families can enjoy a pleasant day together, with the cost of a picnic.

Gave up on Disney several years ago used to go about once a month but even the Fl resident pass is now too expensive. However this article is simply left wing drivel. Folks going to DW are not going to go to stste parks instead. An entire different experience

  6. Susan Helmer

This doesn’t have to seen as an attack on Disney. See it for what it is, giving people who may not have the money to go somewhere expensive, another option. I’m proud of our governor.

    1. danielle

This literally has zero effect on Disney.
Any one planning a Disney vacation is not going to suddenly change their mind because parks that only cost between $2-8 are now free.

This is in no way an attack on Disney at all. The folks who this is aimed at are not folks who would ever go to Disney or the other theme parks. Theme park visitors are from other states and start from home with the plans all made and they rarely if ever would change that. As a Florida resident folks would have an annual pass to their favorite park and this change for a one day holiday won’t change their day one way or the other.

  9. Gerard Bowman

This is a joke! How can anyone compare a State Park to Disney World?

  10. Lynda

My only question. Who or what will replace the lost revenue? The park workers still need to be paid.

    1. danielle

It’s only free for a couple of days and it’s not like it’s much to get in the parks to begin with at a cost between $2-8.

  11. John

Why do people automatically assume that the Governor would spite a mega money maker like Disney, instead of realizing that he just wants to give Florida citizens and its tourists, a piece of what America is all about. Thanks Future President Desantis

    1. danielle

Because he’s already done things to spite them simply because they didn’t like one of his policies and dared to say so. He’s a Trump clone; someone disagrees with them publicly and they snapped back like a child. The fact is if Disney moved, Florida, particularly Orlando, would be screwed. They employ a ton of people and millions of dollars in revenue for other businesses in the surrounding area and sales tax. Florida does not want to leave.

  12. James Berghorn

I do not see it as a dig towards Disney. The demographics of those going to an Amusement park vs. those going to a State park to hike, camp, fish, or just enjoy nature are 2 separate groups, for the most part

  13. Brad

Not exactly sure how these can be considered “Rival Parks”. Author took some liberties to sensationalize it, I think.

  14. danielle

Families planning a Disney vacation are not going to suddenly change their mind because the state parks are free. This is just dis Aunt as being a jack hole again. The fact is if Disney folded and told Florida to screw off it would be a giant impact. They employ a ton of people and they bring in millions of dollars for surrounding businesses. It would be very bad if they left.
And on a separate note this page is the MOST annoying! All these little pop adds are constantly making the page jump up and down and you keep having to scroll back-and-forth to try to figure out where you were reading.

  15. Jane

Ironically DeSantis got married at Disney.
In any event, there is zero this venge seeking character can bring any difficulty to Disney. Disney is far smarter for one. Disney has made record revenue this year and continues expansion. People will always attend Disney regardless of any other perks going on.
