Always the few who ruin it for the many. If there were bigger consequences then many this doesn’t happen. Throw them out, cancel annual passes, remove them from property etc. I don’t know if this is the answer but when people know they can get away with something they most certainly will do it.
To be fair you have to be ready to book at 7am, any later and you probably won’t get a boarding pass. A time you don’t want to necessarily be up especially if you were in parks until late in the evening. When I did this I did not expect boarding group 9 so we all had to quickly get up, shower, have breakfast, wait for and jump on bus. We then ran to Tron and were still 10 mins late. Great ride though
We tried to enter the virtual queue for Guardians every morning at 7am on our last visit, no luck. Genie +, Lightning Lane and Virtual
Queues are ruining the ‘Magic’. Please bring back the old FastPass system so you don’t have to spend your very expensive day in the park glued to your phon.
I was able to join the virtual queue, we gave up once we waited 3 hours plus after our estimated boarding time. I don’t think this really helps anyone. It just makes it super hard to get a boarding time without paying
Virtual queue doesn’t lessen the wait time in the actual queue. It just prevents people from lining up way out of the built in queue for the ride. If you want a shorter wait time, purchase an ILL.
It has been rumored that Tron will be switching to a standby queue. But I doubt this will happen anytime soon with summer coming around the corner. I could see them doing this sometime next year.
Our whole day was ruined by the Tron virtual queue system, up at 7am to try and get a slot. Achieve a place on a group expected to be called at 11:15, great, plan day around that. Sit down for breakfast get message through at 8:30 your boarding group has been called. We are approx an hour, travel and entry wise from the ride. Mad panic, everyone stressed, arrive late, speak to staff to just get a smiley sorry you’ve missed it. Decide to chance it and queue anyway for 45mins to find it did still allow access. This was for Tron last year. The system was awful. Maybe it’s been improved?
Wow really
.. what advantage does it give someone if they cxl last second or not at all… Stop crying that you didn’t get a return time. Don’t blame the person that for some reason couldn’t make it on time. If they were to cancel it doesn’t help anyone else get a spot.
But I do agree it would be nice to get rid of virtual ques… Mainly because of the 7am panic to get both a lightning lane and the virtual
This system is better than it used to be for RotR. Even on busy days, we had no trouble and managed our day around the time. But…we stayed on site, didn’t park hop, and spent way too much time on the Genie app. I prefer the hustle to waiting in lines but I’m glad my kids are older and this was probably the last family trip there. It cost more for a week in Disney than 14 days in Italy and France.
Genie+ forces guests to spend the day staring at their phone, and rush through the parks to meet a schedule. But Genie+ is the only way to see some ride, because if you don’t use it, you have to wait in a line while all the Genie+ users go in front of you (and hope some Genie+ reservation holders are no-shows).
I say – get rid of Genie+. Everyone is equal, everyone should stand in the same time, even rich people! The lines would move much quicker because nobody is cutting the lines. Guests wouldn’t feel stressed to rush to reservations. But Disney would never do that because Genie+ is a cash cow.
No matter what boarding group you get, you can still enter the line at any time. Got boarding group 1 and was still able to enter after 5 pm. Why would anyone cancel?
Technically you are supposed to join within one hour of boarding group time. If too many people join late, it’s likely Disney will start restricting the ability to join at any time after it is called.
This statement is not true, you do NOT need genie+ to join a virtual queue or buy an ILL:
“Guests looking to join these lines must purchase a Disney Genie or an individual Lighting Lane or try for the virtual queue to get a boarding pass”.

Alternatively, they could just have lines. That would solve the problem.

I’m betting both Guardians and Tron will either this year or next year. It took 2 years I think for Rise.

Correction, you can enter the line any time AFTER your boarding group is called.
