Glad this cast member spoke out! I work with robots, PLC’s, sensors, etc & this person is dead on. You have to consider all of the technology involved with attractions these day & all of the safety features that goes along with it. This person shows the perfect example why the say to secure all loose items. Its not just for everyones safety, but also to prevent something like the hat situation the cast member explained.
This still doesn’t explain the constant and frequent down times for the animatronics – such as Kylo during the finale or during the bridge scene. Also, the turbolasers have been stuck in “B” mode almost since the ride opened. The Disney World version has had far more issues than the Disneyland version as well. Sure tech is “newer” but the standards for making it the most authentic experience possible is mediocre at best. After experiencing Gringotts at Universal, and the experiences provided at the Wizarding World, Glaxy’s Edge feels half-baked at best and the delays and downtimes should be unacceptable. Especially when compared to the Carousel of Progress which has been running since the 60s lol.
My family has been stuck on a few HP rides at Universal, several different times. Most ranged from a few seconds to a few minutes, but I remember the quiddage (sp?) Game being frozen in front of us for over an hour one time.
I have a video of us being escorted off of the People Mover from the last time we visited DW, a year ago. (We even have clips of the back stage, “no photos” area. )
By comparison, those older machines, including the Carousel, are older and extremely simple to build amd operate. I’ve also seen it closed because it just broke and everyone had to be escorted off and we were asked to leave the line.
That sucks!!!!! I went yesterday to Hollywood Studios and went on Rise of the Resistance. It was soooooo cooollllll!!!!! No problems here. The only issue is that it takes about an hour or more to get to the area that Ray appears. The main issue that we saw was that the guests aren’t paying attention to the line moving. Most of the time they’re playing games on their phones or standing there talking to others while others are telling them to move and they don’t. That sucks. Other than that, I really enjoyed the experience. Well worth the 1 ½ hour wait.
