I remember the Carousel showing picture phones years ago and thinking how cool that would be

This is my 14 year old granddaughters favorite attraction. When we went last November it was the first ride we hit. I’m so glad they’re keeping and updating it. I hope they can get rid of that musty smell that comes with age.

My Mother and I just adore this ride. It’s nostalgic, gentle and soothing. A small part of Disney that hasn’t changed. Suitable for any age or frailty. A good place to have a small rest and recharge.

The last scene was always meant to be updated as technology progresses. The other scenes are a fun history lesson and we’re not meant to change. Disney Corp has forgotten the story telling and history that was a huge part of the parks and movies as well as the TV shows. Walt always wanted to be seen as a visionary that told new stories. He was dead set against sequels after he lost a lot of the three little pigs. Now we see what happens when you are no longer putting out new stories. Look at the box office returns on what they are making now. IPs can only carry you so far with nothing new. This is why he didn’t just use the IPs in the parks, he supplemented them with unique characters and stories along with the IPs. This was especially true when they built EPCOT. I realize that I get hates the Walt legacy and really hates Eisner so he is trying his best to destroy everything that they did and thereby is destroying the company.

Eisner and wells did a good job, iger did good in the beginning, but i think he lost his way, disney needs a walt type person to run the company, just my opinion

Walt would destroy Epcot and build Hollywood Studios into a working studio. And destroy all resorts except Contemporary, Polynesian, Fort Wilderness, Shades of Green and keep the water parks and miniature golf courses. Build the real EPCOT 1966. There is only one person who can make Disney 999 trillion profit a year. Me and first thing built rocket assembly building for mining asteroids. Walt’s Dream.

We did it for the first time last year and we really enjoyed it.

They only have to change the last scene. I think it was only updated once since the World’s Fair in 1964-65. All the other scenes are history. And history is history.

COP is one of my favorite rides. It’s a must at every visit at least 2-3 times. Very happy to read it is not going anywhere.

    1. Susan

From the youngest to the oldest in our large family, we all love the Carousel of Progress! This is great news!

The CoP’s last scene is already past tense. It needs to “project” the future. When the latest “future” is virtual goggles, it’s time to move the timeline a little further forward.

    1. Jennie

Love this ride. They should update the last scene every once in a while, but keep the rest true. So glad it’s no going anywhere.

  7. Belinda

This is a favorite of mine. I would like to see them update it for today but keep the past also.

I remember when Walt Disney started Disneyland. Disney’s plan was to have a place for families to have anaffordable time together. Today, families have to take out a second mortgage on their homes in order to visit the happiest place on earth.

      So true
