In reiterated assertions on this platform, it is crucial to underscore that the State of Florida and the Central Florida Tourist Development Council (CFTOD) would be absolved from honoring agreements between Disney and the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID). This exemption stems from the fact that the RCID, fully appointed by Disney, was cognizant of its impending divestiture of authority and dissolution. Consequently, neither the state nor the new governing entity could be held accountable for the actions of the RCID board, particularly given the evident conflict of interest among its members.
As a result, Disney is compelled to reapply for approval of all plans previously sanctioned or delegated authority over by the RCID to the CFTOD. This development represents a significant victory for Governor DeSantis, the State of Florida, and the CFTOD, in addition to the populace of Florida at large.
Very simply – DeSantis the evil boogie man won. Disney, who tried to pull unethical crapola – lost. And before all you libtards go apoplectic – Disney blew it. They had a cushy deal cut by the Disney’s (the actual Disney’s) to run their own district and Woke loser Iger directed his storm troopers to open their mouths, LIE and meddle into politics (the BS don’t say gay bill). There is no company on the face of the EARTH that had such a cushy self governing agreement and IGER BLEW IT!
Very simply, if DeSantis truly believed that he would’ve ultimately scored major wins against Disney while continuing to use taxpayer money to fund legal expenses, he would not have agreed to a settlement. It allows him to preemptively save face and then go before cameras with his typical bluster and posturing to boast about “would have happened” with a manufactured narrative about the future. Furthermore, this applies to state-level stuff only. Federal battles still lie ahead, unless DeSantis backs down again and settles those, too.
Once again you’re wrong. This was always going to settle. Disney has lost it’s control as a semi governmental agency. The federal suit already dismissed and now Disney has to meet a high bar to get it refilled. It was dismissed over standing issues along with a strong likelihood of failing. Nobody backed down from Disney. Reedy creek is gone. The unlawful agreements nullified. Wow what a Disney win.
I’m not at all worried about Disney’s ability to stay afloat. As far as legal battles, it’s far from over. I’m curious to see how things go at the federal level.
