How about you get off your soapbox and stop trying to tell people that you are right and they are wrong. Song of the South is a Disney Masterpiece that should be honored, not thrown about because it doesnt fit into your way of thinking. It has remained in One Mans Dream because it is part of Disney history. You can not and will not ever make this movie or it’s music go away. If it wasnt for a very few loud mouth over sensitive individuals, we would still have the VERY MUCH LOVED Splash Mountain today. I can gaurentee you that 95% of the people that visit Disney parks most likely do not know that Splash is from Song of the South, they just know it is was a great ride that was fun and had amazing music.

Stop with the inclusive and diverse future propaganda, and try learning from the past so that we can all have a future together instead of fighting each other.

      Well, said.

      Well said!

Totally agree! I grew up with Song of the South and also have the video. Also a trip through some of historical plantations did explain and show life back then and hopefully not removed. Not all slaves were abused, many stayed after slavery was abolished and most importantly history should not be removed but learn from it! Also not all slaves were black throughout our history as well as other countries.

totally agree. Not one of my younger coworkers or the kids of others know anything about what the ride was originally modeled after. Stop with the woke grow up and learn from the past and stop erasing anything that offends such a sorry group of immature dimwits

This is an an example of the how Disney of today has ruined the legacy of the company by making everything about possible political correctness. The Song of the South was a beautiful movie and positive in its feeling toward race.

      👍👏Thank you

    6. Shirley Rill

Wholly agree! My generation grew up with this and many others of Disney with no social problems! Any problems came when the woke or whatever they are called think that they know better- NOT!!!

Disney should always move slowly. The BLM hysteria was short lived. They’re replacing a classic with a dud.

  3. Erik

Wow. Can you cry a little harder? I’m not sure they heard you in all the Disney parks in Asia. Quit ruining everything by letting your imagination see everything as “ra-ra-ra-racist!”.

Wow very well said I couldn’t have said it better myself I think you made a big mistake by removing something that everybody loved who enjoyed the parks.

    1. Whatiswoke

Stop with this stupidity. Song of the South and Splash Mountain as it was was a classic. The ignorance that you spew as a 20 something year old ignorant woke wanna -be journalist only keeps the pot stirred.

I for one am excited for the update, regardless of the reason. Walt said it himself… The parks should always be changing and growing to keep things fresh.

    1. VacaDad

True, but Disney should’ve changed just one location (much like ToT) so we could experience the new and classic versions. I don’t like copies of the same attraction in FL/CA, I prefer different experiences. Disney doesn’t listen to reason though, perception is their strategy.

Talk about very lazy writing, Joel Chandler Harris didn’t write the Uncle Remus stories, he compiled them from many African American stories that have a rich legacy in teaching right from wrong and have a great cultural significance to the African American community and in fact teaches more about their history than almost anything else can.

While I love to see Princess and the Frog getting the love it deserves, I don’t think changing Splash Mountain was the right way to do it, it would have been more appropriate for Disney to utilize it as a teaching tool and give Princess and the Frog its own brand new attraction.

    1. Eyes Wide Open

True, “hiding” the Uncle Remus stories means they are hiding a culturally important part of African American history. These were teaching moments for years worth of children of all races. So sad.

A movie or story is deemed offensive by the one who hates the movie or story, or by someone who ignorantly repeats what he hears. Many modern day Disney movies are terribly offensive to people.

  8. Chris

You know there is and issue say splash mountain just because someone didn’t like the happy slaves they think it’s wrong and put up a replacement for it don’t get me wrong we ARE ALL EQUAL IN THIS WORLD NO EVIL SO I DON’T UNDERSTAND

    1. don

YOU SHOULD YELL LESS and learn English. Stay in school kids.

  9. Steve

I can see banning a truly racist movie or song but this is moving into very questionable territory. To ban it because it romanticizes this time/place is silly. Soon movies that romanticize war will be banned too. Or other real life tragedies, like Titanic. Maybe we should eliminate any movies or songs that focus on those eras withought straying from the horror of the deaths, because the same argument can be made. You have to be able to tell stories from those times from other perspectives. The injustices of the era/time should not be the only stories allowed to be told.

Disney needs to go back in time and stay out of the politics. When I worked for them they were very strick on dress code, and what we could say. This new liberal disney is an abomination.

    1. Nope

Agree! Woke Disney World is a mess.

  11. HELL NO, Disney should have never removed splash mountain !!!!
The Brer characters are incredibly precious,
SLAVERY HAPPENED – that is sad but there are NO people alive today that were slaves.
The Disney WOKE agenda is stupid.
Can’t the Disney executives SEE the people that frequent their theme parks and Cruise ships ??? They are NOT black folks.
If Disney runs off the white folks – they are instantly OUT OF BUSINESS.
Less than 1% of their guests are black.
I will never ride Tiana’s ride.
    I objet !

  12. Chris

I would be happy if they would just remove all references to Iger.

  13. Brustavo

By removing song of the south is just an example of movies they shelved never to be seen again do the same they did with gone with the wind a narrative before explaining it a caution sign Orr something saying what it represents is not acceptable. Always remember those who forget are doomed to repeat nobody wants that

  14. Lloyd

If it offends someone then don’t ride it.the majority of persons saw it as enjoyable and did not place anything racist when riding it they were having fun with the family.

  15. Debby Rusovick

Song of the South was one of my favorite movies when I was growing up. It wasn’t because it agreed with slavery, but because it showed that no matter how inhumanely Uncle Remus was treated, he had a positive outlook on life. His stories were fun and full of good life lessons. The little boy in the movie loved him dearly, and did not see him as a black slave, but as a friend. My mom always brought us up to believe that all men are created equal, and not to judge someone by the color of their skin. I understand that people of color have been treated very unfairly, however, to try to erase history, and remove this beautiful story, is a travesty. I do not want Disney to get rid of every memory of my past.

How about all the losers with purple hair stop being little schmucks about everything? Anyone crying about this stuff doesn’t even go to the parks. Just a bunch of “Victim Mentality” scumbags.

  17. RickTR

He didn’t say “changing for the worse.”

  18. Zilma A Osle

They never should have removed Splash Mountain. I’ve never seen the Song of the South movie but, I do know of a few of the songs and I like them. I agree that closing rides, canceling/getting rid of books, etc, is a bad thing. Kids need to know the hard truth so that history doesn’t repeat its self again. What bothers me is this “Cancel Culture Movement.” People rather cancel first rather than talking about the issues or doing research about it. Stop canceling just because it offends some people. Explain to them why certain things are happening before deciding to cancel things or demolish rides.

  19. Matt

There is nothing problematic about Pecos bill. Nothing at all. Song of the south progressed minority rights. By winning an Oscar for the actor who played uncle remus, and preserving west African folk stories about freedom and wisdom. Clearly Tinanas ride will ridicule her magnificent movie. That is because it looks so cheaply done, even from the outside, and while the movie has dozens of animatronic worthy characters, we will barely get a handful if that. They need to bring back splash mountain completely restored to opening day conditions and they can then tear down and rebuild Tiana’s ride correctly this time in another part of the park. Don’t destroy the old. Add to it but no removals. Agnowledge that nothing legitimately offended anyone
