Parents always had the right to know what their kids were being taught in school. This law and others passed by DeSantis do not empower parents but cause unnecessary fighting and hatred
DeSantis needs to get off his discriminatory high horse and leave Disney alone‼️‼️
There’s NO DISNEY FILM THAT SHOULD REQUIRE A PERMISSION SLIP‼️‼️‼️‼️🤷♀️
DeSantas should be more concerned about governing the state, than governing how and what our children are being taught in schools. Teachers went to colleges and universities to learn what and how to teach. The governer did not. He has been brain-washed by a bunch of meddlesom women who are trying to make every child in Florida meet their own teaching preferences. Mom’s for Liberty are making a mockery of our school system, and DeSantas is encouraging it.
Unfortunately, there are about 20 Disney movies that are rated R under the Touchstone division. There are also MANY Disney PG films that contain violence, sexual scenes, and unacceptable language. As much as I LOVE “Pretty Woman,” it’s not appropriate for school.
Hi! I’m the parent who was interviewed for this piece and I want to clarify that I did not complain to the school. I know and have known from the jump that this is a direct result of the state department of education’s overreach and poorly drafted guidelines. The schools are doing the best they can to teach my children!
Permission slips for anything that isn’t a G movie has been the requirement at every FL school I’ve worked and the schools my kids attended for decades. I’m not sure why people think this is new unless their schools weren’t protecting themselves from lawsuits.
My Middle School child didn’t have a permission slip for Remember the Titans. And I don’t EVER remember needing a permission slip in HIGH SCHOOL for watching or reading anything
I don’t have kids in school either, but I dare someone to fine me. This legislation was poorly thought out and vaguely worded, and it has proven itself pointless and gratuitous in its attempt to protect children and inform parents. It wreaks of superficial politics and egotistical strong-arming.
DeSantis needed to start being more concerned about the abuse the Citizens of Florida have of late having to deal with high taxes, and absorbent insurance rates going out of control. The average citizen of this state is being forced out due to an uncontrollable Florida Legislature. DeSantis is more concerned about the Mouse than the citizens that voted him into office. Thank God for Term limits and he attempted to run for President……HA!!!!
DeSantis is banning everything. This Disney thing is personal to him which affects all of us. He has to be stopped. They should appeal to the Supreme Court. He’s taking away all our rights. He will be voted out!
Every PG movie shown in Osceola county is required to have a parent permission slip regardless if it is from Disney or any other producer. This requirement has been in effect long before DeSantis ever took office. Veteran Osceola public school teacher
So, let me get this straight. All this bill does is force parents to actually know what their kids are doing in school by signing permission slips? And that’s a problem? Get real people. I’d much rather sign a million slipsthan my kids be exposed to things I don’t agree with.
Former teacher here. If it’s not G, there’s a permission slip. It’s been that way for decades. This isn’t new unless a school wasn’t protecting itself from lawsuits.
Well than there is something called moving if it bothers you so damn much,oh server me timbers someone cares about what teachers our teaching children💀
Thank God! The pedo park is losing influence with the youth! I am glad to report that Pedo Plus channel viewership among children is dropping as well! Good job Governor!
Explain how “viewership among children” is dropping when children can’t pay for their own subscriptions, let alone cancel them. Please share where those stats get reported. I know you can’t, but it’ll be fun to see you try and pivot your way out of this one, like the “critical thinker” you are. Entertain me.

I thought teenagers went to high school, please tell me why they are watching cartoons, when they can’t do 3rd grade math.
Dodger
Please tell me why you think cartoons are only for pre-teen kids.
