They started doing this in Florida years ago. A “security” check each day without fail. Not only did they open the door, they would walk the whole room, then go back out. Now that would have been okay, but the “security” check team never completely closed the door behind them to verify it was securely shut. Would come back at night, use the magic band to open the door, get a red light, then realize when you pushed on the door, it would open right up. Complained to management numerous days on our vacation to please make sure “security” shut the door securely. Happened four out of six days. The last straw was on the final day of our vacation my husband had fallen ill the night before. So sick he did not get up to go to the park for the final day with us. I went to the main desk, let them know he was in the room, and to please delay the “security” check so my husband could sleep for the day. Could they schedule it for when I returned so not to startle and scare him if he was sleeping. They literally told me they would come in when they wanted, and if I wanted to make sure I was there for the “check” then I needed to stay there. This was in 2019. All I could do was cry on my daughter’s shoulder in the lobby. So I was being forced to make a choice, be there to make sure my husband wasn’t startled by some stranger coming into our room, or deny my daughter her last day at Magic Kingdom. Needless to say, this was the last time we ever visited Walt Disney World or their resort after going for 19 years. They confirmed all we were good for was our money, and the magic was gone. And seems like it just keeps going down hill. Luckily Universal reminds me of the earlier days of Disney and we can be a little less scheduled, and more care free!
This is why I bring jam locks for my hotel doors. You don’t come in until I LET YOU IN, PERIOD. I get that they want to come in and inspect, but never until I’m ready to let you in. One barely announced visit in AK Lodge was enough.
