We spend a lot of time in the US and Jeopardy is always something we try to watch. It’s fast paced with quite difficult questions, especially for a Brit The money on offer can quickly add up to tens of thousands of dollars. The US show lasts for 30 minutes, including three ad breaks and the mid-programme chat.
The UK version has made the whole experience very dull. For a start why does it last for one hour? The money prizes are hardly worth the effort. Stephen Fry repeats the answers and interjects his own comments, slowing down the pace. The set, the format and the timings appear to be the same as the US version but it is all very dull, dull, dull. Watch the US version and you’ll see the difference.
What is really annoying about this show is the incomprehensible “requirement” for contestants to word their answers with “what is?”, “who is?” etc. This is totally unnecessary, rather pathetic and spoils the quiz… just let them give the answer. Otherwise the format is fine and the questions interesting and challenging.
