Wow someone doesn’t really know their are NO rules preventing agents from charging. And I totally support it. Have you tried following a client around all day- putting everything else on hold for the day to book Genie+ return times for them? It is an all day affair and NO, Disney is NOT paying TAs to do this- Disney is simply paying TAs to book the trip, nothing else. Doing an itinerary, booking dining reservations or Genie+ are EXTRA services a TA might provide and yes, they are allowed to charge a fee for their time and they should. So you are saying TAS should work for free and spend all their days booking Genie+ for their clients? Wow, just wow. This is just ludicrous.

As an accountant for a travel agency, our travel agents are not paid enough from suppliers to compensate the level of experience clients rightfully expect. Also suppliers are reducing the percentage rates the agents get. Yes, travel agencies should be able to charge a service fee to ensure out agents are properly compensated!

What a load of crap! The commission Disney pays is to book the vacation package – PERIOD! Disney does not pay me to get up at 4am and book dining reservations for my clients. They do not pay me to spend time on the phone with my clients, teaching them how to use Genie+. Disney does not pay me to spend an hour per client putting together a very nice itinerary to send them before they leave! The commission, which is very LOW by industry standards, is barely enough to cover my time for everything I do for clients. Plus, we don’t get commissions on some things we book. There are no rules by Disney that we cannot charge additional fees. These tiktok people will just do anything they can to get business! Absolute lies!

There are no rules stating that an agent cannot charge a planning fee. Agents receive zero commission on 1-2 day park tickets. Agents receive zero commission on any Genie+ guidance or management. No one should have to work for free.

There is no such Disney rule. Certain states have Seller of Travel laws stating that an agent cannot accept money directly from clients, but licensed agencies can and then distribute it to their contracted agents.

I think it would be better if disney got rid of the extra, then when we’re at the park we can decide if we want to stand in a long line or not…..everyone’s on the same playing field at that point , the well-to-do people can’t get an advantage over the one’s that can’t and won’t pay for it. Old days were a lot more fun till disneys started trying to rip people off by charging these up fees…it’s the truth
