When lookin at investments in today’s environment, one must be very careful that corporations, especially those in the public eye will be able to meet their future cash obligations and growth expectations. As Disney keeps shooting itself in the foot with monumentally poor operating performance, poor new entertainment products, and now the Spector of fraudulent management which coil lead to investigations, payouts and looking at other parts of their operations for similar activities…it appears to be a wise decision to minimize one’s investments in this foundering ship!

As a lover of Walt’s dream and vision I have invested considerable resources in the Disney corporation (Stocks, DVC, Annual passes, Key pass, & private membership clubs). However, Disney has made several poor business decisions over the years that had the company in financial and legal ground that was volatile at best and potentially disastrous at worst. The decisions to wade , publicly, into the social political sphere was another very bad business decision. It is likely why Iger put out his recent statement regarding Disney’s priority. Unfortunately, it may be to little to late! While I kept the park investments like DVC, passes, and memberships; I have long since dumped the stock because it is stagnate at best and will likely tank if the civil and potential criminal allegations are proven.

The only way to save the company is to shed all upper management, most middle management, and all assists that are not profitable and not park related, such as ESPN!

A qoute from Disney recent SEC filing. “We face risks relating to misalignment with public and consumer tastes and preferences for entertainment, travel and consumer products…. Further, consumers’ perceptions of our position on matters of public interest, including our efforts to achieve certain of our environmental and social goals, often differ widely and present risks to our reputation and brands.”

It seems everyone has First Amendment rights except Disney.

Everyone has that right. Everyone also have the right to suffer for saying things they should not have said.

No surprise. Disney is moving away from it’s bread and butter and box office sales show their woke strategy is failing. They need to refocus back on their popular client base or as Cogsworth would say, “If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it.”
If a steakhouse went vegan, you can’t be surprised if customers disappear…
