As Dave Filoni’s ever-expanding “Mando-Verse” continues to explore new territory for George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away, one star of the hit Disney+ spinoff series, The Mandalorian, recently hinted at a long-awaited reunion between two iconic characters, whose shared history dates back to 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The interconnected TV universe known as the “Mando-Verse” — AKA all live-action Disney+ Star Wars shows that take place in the aftermath of the Galactic Empire, including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and the upcoming Jude Law-fronted Skeleton Crewis only continuing to expand on Disney+. And with this has come the unique opportunity to fuse different eras of Star Wars storytelling.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian brought legacy characters like Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) into the mix to assist Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in his plight to return his tiny charge, Grogu, to his people. Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) also made her live-action debut in “Chapter 13: The Jedi” after playing a prominent role in all seven seasons of the animated Clone Wars series, bringing things full circle for longtime fans.

However, Ahsoka and Boba Fett were far from the only familiar faces to pop up in The Mandalorian. Mandalorian heiress and former Nite Owl leader Bo-Katan Kryze also made her introduction in The Mandalorian‘s sophomore season after appearing in a few episodes of Star Wars Rebels, where she was played in live-action by her voice actress, Katee Sackhoff.

Over the years, Bo-Katan has become an increasingly influential figure in the “Mando-Verse,” reclaiming her home planet of Mandalore — thought to be destroyed by the Empire — in the most recent season of The Mandalorian, which she now rules. In fact, many accused Bo-Katan of stealing the spotlight from Din Djarin in his own show — a claim Sackhoff has adamantly denied in recent interviews.

Still, even if there are no plans for Bo-Katan to “replace” Din Djarin as Mando anytime soon, there’s no denying that she’ll play a vital role in the fight against Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) moving forward. With the ability to mobilize an entire fleet of Mandalorian warriors at her disposal, Bo-Katan and the planet Mandalore could prove vital to the destruction of the Imperial Remnant once and for all.

While the plot of Dave Filoni’s “Mando-Verse” crossover movie has yet to be revealed, the film is expected to culminate most, if not all, of these interconnected stories in an epic retelling of Timothy Zhan’s 1991 Legends novel, “Heir to the Empire.” And with the recent Ahsoka show laying the foundation for Thrawn’s return to the known Star Wars galaxy, it seems inevitable that she’ll call on Din and Bo-Katan for help.

Recently, while speaking with The Direct, Sackhoff fed into these rumors, admitting that she expects there to be a live-action crossover between Bo-Katan and Ahsoka at some point in the future. When asked about the possibility of her and Dawson’s characters meeting in live-action, Sackhoff said she “can’t imagine they wouldn’t at some point:”

Yeah. I mean, I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t at some point. But, you know, again, I have no idea. You know, I have absolutely no idea. They don’t tell me anything until I show up at work with my script in hand.

Bo-Katan and Ahsoka, of course, share a rich history that dates back to the Clone Wars era. The pair first met onscreen on the planet of Carlac when Ahsoka (voiced by Ashley Eckstein) discovered her friend, Lux Bonteri (Jason Spisak), allied himself with Mandalore’s Death Watch in the Season 4 episode, “A Friend in Need.” Although their initial meeting wasn’t exactly smooth, the pair gradually learned to trust each other, even teaming up to fight Maul (Sam Witwer) in the critically acclaimed “Siege of Mandalore” arc, after which they parted on good terms.

Although Star Wars Rebels featured both Ahsoka and Bo-Katan, the two never crossed paths, meaning their reunion is long overdue. Bo-Katan did, however, build a relationship with Mandalorian Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar) throughout the show, with the latter even returning the Dark Saber to Bo-Katan in the ultimate sign of respect.

With Sabine now established as the Jedi Padawan of Ahsoka, the question of what Bo-Katan would think of her new abilities remains. Considering the pair’s rich history, Sackhoff was also asked if a reunion between her character and Sabine, played in live-action by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, would reunite somewhere down the road, to which she said Bo-Katan would be receptive to seeing her people and the Jedi working “side by side” once again:

I think that Bo has always worked side by side with the Jedi and the Mandalorian people. And I think that she sees the benefit of the two groups working together. And I think that she would, she would probably think nothing of it other than, ‘Wow, that’s pretty wonderful. Good for you.’

Although Bo-Katan didn’t appear in Season 1 of Ahsoka, Sackhoff seems to have done her homework, and even suggested how her character could fit into the “Mando-Verse” moving forward. The actress noted that Bo-Katan has “always been incredibly strategic and methodical” while her people are “a phenomenal military asset,” making them a valuable asset in the fight against Thrawn’s army:

Well, you know, I think that the Mandalorian people have a lot of rebuilding to do. But I think that the Mandalorians have always been a phenomenal military asset. So, you know, I don’t know. She’s always been incredibly strategic and methodical. So I think that those skills could be useful. But you never know.

While nothing has been confirmed, it seems like Bo-Katan will continue to be a key player in the “Mando-Verse” as the release date for Filoni’s crossover movie inches closer. However, with Rosario Dawson’s hero stuck in another galaxy, the reunion between Ahsoka, Sabine, and Bo-Katan might have to wait for quite a while. A second season of Ahsoka also has yet to get the official green light from Disney and Lucasfilm, so it’s hard to see where and when exactly Bo-Katan will come back into the picture.

Until then, fans can rest assured that Season 4 of The Mandalorian is on the way and can finally resume production now that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have been resolved. Bo-Katan and her people on Mandalore certainly have a lot of rebuilding to get to in the meantime, which could set up her arc in future Star Wars entries. Only time will tell when she realizes that her old friend is in trouble on Peridia, to which she, Din, and hopefully, the New Republic will come to her rescue.

Do you think Bo-Katan will play an important role in the future of the “Mando-Verse?” Let us know in the comments below!
