The longest I ever remember standing inline was when “Space Mountain” first opened at Disney World. And that was only about an hour. If it was any longer I wouldn’t waste my time.
You know before they changed everything with genie+, reservations, and the way you could park hop this was hardly an issue. This new system is so broken and don’t understand how they can’t see it and go back to the Pre-Covid ways. Guess money is more important then the Customers magical experience. As much as I love Disney it will be a long time before I return, which is sad.
The park hopping restrictions are being lifted in a matter of days, however the argument for reservations always was, and remains, valid. In an era of capacity limits, social distancing, and reductions in staff, they were advantageous.
The tradeoff is that the ancillary financial benefits of knowing how many people would be there almost exactly extended its use. And technically it will still be in use, only seemingly without guests noticing it as visibly.
Genie+ is an interesting story, and mathematically you are correct that Fastpass and Fastpass+ were more equitable and reduced overall waits for everyone. However it’s important to keep on mind that the company is still a business, owned by stockholders who do care about profits, and can’t simply focus on subsidizing the experience for those who can no longer afford what has become a luxury brand.
Furthermore, keep in mind that the Florida government is directly attacking the WDW Resort, which will require them to focus more on profitability rather than magic, lest the coffers be depleted as a result of targeted, totalitarian policy.
Unfortunately the world is different post-Covid, and the world in Orlando is different post-DeSantis. It’s hard to say which is worse.
Are you saying that a company that has lost over $200 billion in market capital since 2021 is fine because people are waiting 5 hours to go on a roller coaster? Not only have they lost over$200 billion, they will be losing a lot more in 2024 as well. Every they admit going woke have made them go broke.
Dave, your day realize this company is a lot bigger than just the park, right? If you’d like to discuss profitability within this conversation, please focus on the park. THAT’S what this conversation is about.
Oh Ginger, friend. Have you checked financial reports? The parks are doing great. Any thing you believe about the rest of the company is completely outside the scope of this discussion.
In spite of far right extreme ideology that prioritizes big government, expands governmental control of business, diminishes capitalism, targets freedom of speech, and silences independent thought… The parks will be fine.
Can we just get the GOP back to normalcy and stop bowing to angry little men with Napoleon complexes?

Where are all the far right snowflakes? You know, the ones that cry “Go woke, go broke” and go run to their safe space?
Guess they’re too busy polishing DeSantis’s knob to comment now.
